are you KIDDING me? i deal with a number of privately-owned entities in the USA -- many of which I pay for -- and they don't work as a democracy.
if they did, i'm sure i would have a 0% interest rate on my mortgage.
my car insurance would pay me every time someone scratched the paint.
i could choose whether or not to pay my credit card bill when i feel like it.
etc.
this is NOT a democracy.
the SOLE reason the posts were hidden was because they were inappropriate IN THE CONTEXT OF THE THREAD.
if notonline was so offended by the religious aspect of the post, he could have clicked the "report post" button (where he could express his disdain in a private and much more appropriate manner), he could have just left the thread, or he could have chosen to "officially" ignore the thread by using the dropdown that's available to EVERYONE at the top of the forum screen.
instead, he decided to post inflammatory remarks (again, in the context of the thread) which were not appropriate AND, incidentally, not allowed in most forums posts except for those in the rant forum.

Yes, thats it di. I asked a simple and done no wrong. By this statement you believe SC HAS the right to edit/remove/delete or hide someones posts and I as well as others think thats wrong. In this case I can understand but in other cases nd I know they are doing it should NOT be doing it for any reason. BUT, as they have removed my post they should have also removed he other post which I took offence too. I'm not asking for that, instead what I'm asking for is that SC as a COLLECTIVE take into onsideration that this is MORE of a diverse community then the "americas".

Why should I be self editing topics that I don't want to see when the SC should be doing this for me!? I think the SC is not doing enough by allowing topics like this to exist at all!

Your initial post was offtopic, whereas the original as on topic. This was the primary reason for its removal, and has no relation to whether any post was deemed offensive or not.

the SC itself represents at least 4 countries. we are a diverse group with diverse opinions. we argue with each other all the time.
BUT
as people have pointed out, time and time again, we are 100% within our right according the to the ToS to which YOU agreed to edit/remove/delete/hide posts. in fact, that's a very large part of our job.
if you don't like it, GO AWAY. you agreed to abide by our rules and this is certainly not the way to get them changed. |

now that's the kind of statement that I find not only offensive, but down right repulsive if you ask me.
I'll say again what I said in our pms, if you say that the original post in question (especially in the context in which it was used) is offensive and threatenting, in my opinion it means one or both of 2 things
1) you're just looking for an excuse for a good fight
2) you're not secure with your own beliefs
...perhaps you need to search within yourself for the answers that you seek...

Because others are getting a GREAT kick out of watching this - you now know what this thread is about, if you want to read it make the choice to select the link and open it...if not - then don't. Pretty simple.

The original poster didn't refer to your ethnic background or religious group as, "crap." Posting a verse from the bible (or any other religious text) as consolation for someone who requested it is not an offensive gesture. |
He did NOT request ANY religious context. He may not have been offended by it but I was when I went to console him. |
Then you should have consoled him and hit ignore. Like a grown up. But instead you spout off like a spoiled little child with an agenda. When SC hides your first post as WAS appropriate, you repost like a spoiled little child with an agenda. Now you are spouting off like a spoiled little child with an agenda and it isn't gonna prove anything to keep going around and around in circles. |

It's in the damn General section! I must read it!
It's my obligation to read it under the ToA agreement that I agreed to when I became a paying member.
.... and I take offense in the fact that you mentioned I should ignore this thread.

Which is WHY I asked for it to be MOVED to the RANT forum. I went there to offer any sympathic remarks I could when I read the last remark it pissed me off. I thought for being such a diverse communtiy how can SC allow this to go on REGARDLESS of the original posters background(which he himself was not offended but I was) etc. Having read the ToA scalvert himself has made my point. I am from a minority background and because I took offence to a god that is not mine (or right in some cases) that MY voice shouldn't be heard and MY voice should be deleted. It doesn't have to be about religion. If I didn't threaten anybody then why should you delete anything I have to say, reagrdless of the thread???

Because your post was offtopic for that thread.

Sure it does. He quoted a religious quote and I asked " where is your GOD now???" I didn't bring religion into it. I merely asked a question which was removed by SC. Editing the public voice as usual IMO.

I think it came from Muckpond, the person, not Muckpond, SC. I think we as adults know the difference.

The thread wasn't a religious discussion, whereas your question was starting one, hence it was offtopic, hence removed.
