Well... after having missed my 1-year-warranty by a whole two weeks, my Rebel decides to stop autofocusing and to stop metering correctly. For my entire vacation (and Nude entry in fact) I dealt with it, but then decided that I needed to send it in for repair. So today we get the estimate back from Canon --- $200. Yipes, that sucks... so much for my 70-200 f/4 I've been looking at.
This is one of those depressing, getting of some steam type threads so yea here it is.

Tranquil,
That really bites.... I recently had my flash hotshoe get ripped off of my camera in a drop accident. I took it to a repair shop and they quoted me at 170$ CAD to get it fixed..... so I took it home and glued the hotshoe back on with some epoxy resin.... good as new now. I'm so glad I was able to fix it myself. I only wish there was some sort of similar solution for you!
Hope it doesn't take long for them to fix it!

bummer Tranquil. I can feel your pain as everytime I think I have enough saved up for a decent lens, a disaster strikes and I have to spend my savings on fixing whatever.
Hopefully you'll get the camera back fast and won't have any mmore trouble with it. |

Not to jump the Nikon Ship or anything, but be glad this wasn't a Nikon. Just about any repair of this type would have cost you over $300 for a Nikon... :) |
