Thought this might be a fun thing to do.
I had a comment on a photo in my portfolio from SJCarter
I started to give an in-depth description of the photo, but then decided... Hey.... This is a challenge website and there are people from all walks of life here. This leads me to my question. Can someone help Jimmy? A contest of sorts. Who can provide not just an identification, but a detailed description of the following photo?

I'd love to help you Jimmy, but I'm just as clueless as you! :-D Is that the chicken before the egg????

I'm not sure, but my guess would be a set of some kind of embryos? |

Not having my bio textbook on me, I'd have to say most likely an embryo, most likely a fowl of some type. Note the blood vessels, sac, and what looks like a developing bird (although let's face it, we all look pretty similar at that stage).

Looks like a microphotograph in the retina of an eye, to me.

Well those are definitely steamed goose testicles but I'm having a hard time deciding if those belong to a family of the Gray Goose variety or perhaps the Arctic Goose...I suspect the latter. |

Looks like I got beaten to it. Amazing what 40+ years of omnivorous reading leaves in the brain isn't it?

I was pretty sure it was an eye, cos I did some optometry related research recently. |

OMG!!! I feel like I've finally "arrived" on DPC now. Someone has actually made reference to me in the title of a forum thread. ROFLMAO!
Thank you Idowse for pointing out my obvious lack of insight on what this truly was... LOL (Just kidding - about the poke of fun) I can't wait to see what arises from this debate!
You rock Idowse - in all honesty, thanks again both for your continued support and encouragement, but also for your constructive comments and enlightening conversation! =D [You made my week!]

And as far as my completely uneducated guess goes, I thought that it might be the initial cellular mitosis of a fetus, but I figured that the eye was far too defined for that. (Okay, everyone can laugh at me some more! LOL - I LOVE IT!)
