i wonder why everyone is scoring so low..i havent looked at any photos but it seems from the forums, that everyone's score is just crappy :( my photo isnt a winner but its alot better than some of the others i've entered and it is at 4.3...i really need a comment to see why. hmmmm waiting...........

A possible explanation is that some people find it quicker to wade through such a large field by registering a low vote and thus to get more quickly to the next picture. I find it very time consuming to have a first run through of all the pics and I would like the powers that be to make it possible to page through full size images more easily. It is not possible to get any useful idea of the quality of a picture by looking at the thumbnail. What do others think? |

Jansku- I've always tanked at the challenges. My Shoe entry is avg 4.11 and I expect it will go down from there.[
Outakes? I wanted to do something at my daughter's riding lesson, but she only goes on Tuesdays. So I was up against the wall to get the shot, edit and post within hours. I had a few ... I personally feel I went with the wrong one...but this one needed additional editting and I was beat. Any feedback welcomed - the good/bad/ugly ~

Good call by me! 5 votes later and I am at a 5.8000 :)
I think the votes may be low overall becuase it is very hard to make a topic like shoes interesting. Pesonally I am going to weight how the person used a shoe in the picture rather heavily as well as how well the picture was taken. I think that creativity is definitely going to win in this challenge.
ps. Had I been allowed to spot edit I would have easily been in the mid 6's with some of my outtakes! Grrrrr.....

| I think there are so many entries that it is kind of overwhelming to people because they know they have a long way to go and they are holding out for "something better" before they commit to a higher mark. Also, when I was a first time voter, I didn't realize that I could come back and change my vote any time during the week, so I was extra cautious about how I did it. So if you're new you tend to think you don't want to go too high or too low incase nobody else is giving those marks. I'm currently giving out some pretty high marks on the D&L challenge, because there are alot of technically well done photos. But now that I see the low scores bouncing around,it's in the back of my mind that I am not scoring like everybody else. I'm trying to ignore that thought and do what I personaly feel is right, but I say some people will fall under a presumed peer pressure to keep them low that doesn't really exist. Also, once in awhile I htink, I am not helping myself by giving this person a 9 or 10 when I know I am scoring low, but I have to be honest and do what I know is right ( Darn morals!) |

Truthfully....I found this to be a mass production challenge. There are about 40 photos with merit, the others (to me) were just snapshots and lacked creativity and focus in some cases.
I gave out alot of 3's & 4s. But I also gave out alot of 8s, 9s & 10s.

Many shots were snapshots.
Personally I am disappointed in the version I uploaded, I did it at the last possible minute (for me as I had something that got in the way before my time zone's 11 pm deadline) and I wish I would've uploaded the other color variation of my shot. I did a sepiaish toning on my pic that is submitted and something got lost in DPC translation and it just seems much more muddy than it did in PS.
Does anyone know why that would be? I really need to get that fixed. My other shot was more colorful and maybe it would've translated better.
At least it was original amongst all the others. |

ugh,
My score is below a 4.0, I know it's not a 10 but I would have exprected in the 5's...hopfully when people get done voting on all 500 entries they'll see that mine is placed in the wrong section and move it up where it belongs. Plus I only have 1 comment...maybe people wait to comment after they vote. If my photo is sooooo bad I would love to know why. If you don't tell me I'll just keep posting bad photos and make you vote on them challenge after challenge after challenge :P |
