soft focus is great when used effectively. I can see the difference in your example MikeOwens. Here are two examples of my own in which I used blur or soft focus to achieve a certain look. I have been arguing against abusing proper technique through artistic pretentiousness.
 ...sharp, yet soft.
 ...blurred, but focus remains on subject and motion.

No, for sure! NeatImage is definitely the most frightening piece of software in the whole wide wide world!
