Hey, I just joined. I'm looking forward to entering in the contests. I've loved what I've seen, and from looking around in the forms just a tiny bit, I see that there is a wealth of knowledge here, and I can't wait to learn more!

I am bummed about one thing...I noticed that you have to take the picture you submit after the challenge is posted. So, if I understand correctly, I cannot take a picture I've taken from the past and post it here, can I? One that I took before I joined? That's sad, but at the same time, I think it will be good for me.

If someone can just clarify that for me, that'd be great. I dont want to unknowingly break any rules. Thanks!

Thats the deal I am afraid. I guess it is time to get creative!

That's right -- the photo must be taken between the time the challenge is posted and the time it closes and the voting starts. That's what makes it an "even" challenge for everyone, with no particular advantage to experienced photographers with large portfolios of images at hand.

Also, note that for the next few weeks, there are two "Open" challenges, but you'll only be able to enter one or the other, not both. As a paid member, you can also enter the Advanced challenge and the Speed Challenge, both of which are currently open for entries.

Pictures taken for challenges must be taken within the challenge dates. That date starts when the challenge is announced and generally runs for 7 days though there are exceptions to that.

As a member though, you can upload photos to your portfolio that were taken anytime, and post them in the forums for discussion. No date limit on that type of participation.

Welcome!

You can post any photo, or add it to your profile...that's okay.

But, to enter a challenge, you have to stick to the dates and make sure your date in camera is set correctly.

As a registered user, your access to the site is limited, it's better to pay $25 for membership.

Thanks guys! I was pretty sure that was the rule, but wanted to make sure.

This will be really good for me!
