It works the other way around, too....Read my message for secret encoded work-around.
Today's calls:
Me: Hello, this is XYZ company. How may I...
Them:
Me: Good morning! This is XYZ company. How may I help you?
Them: I'm sorry. I was trying to reach extension 123.
(Never occurred to the caller that I could transfer them!)
Me: Good afternoon! This is XYZ company....
Them: I'm trying to reach ABC company. Do you have their number, I can't find them in the phone book.
Me:
Me: Hello! XYZ, how may I help you.
Them: Dead airspace.
Me: Hello?
Them:
And my all time favorite:
Me: Hello...
Them: Thank you for holding. Your call is important to us. Please stay on the line and a customer service representative (Hidden message: Hint: press the * during automated messages to speak to the operator. Works 75% of the time when the Operator button won't.) will be with you shortly.
