I purchased a Canon Pixus 7100 printer while in Japan. It holds 6 seperate ink carts. Now that I am back in Canada I can't find any retailer that sells the appropriate ink cartridges. Does anyone know where I can get (internet sites, shops, etc.) BCI-7 cartridges? ... otherwise my printer is useless. Hope someone can help.

this is from a UK site this one

Many people have asked about the new BCI-7 series of ink tanks. These new cartridges boast greater print longevity (up to 100 years is the claim). I am told that these are for the Japanese market only. When I pushed question further, Canon could not comment on future product availability or developments. My own guess, and I stress this is my own view, is that yes these will be available, probably early in the new year. It would be folly for Canon not to launch this hot product world-wide. I suspect that there must be a mountain of un-sold BCI-6 ink tanks to dispense with first.

I don't know but are you able to use the BCI 6 cartridges for now

My understanding is that this is a new ink, Chroma-Life100 BCI-7 series ink, being introduced by Canon. Right now it is only in the Asian market but I would expect al lthe ink suppliers to have it availalbe soon. But I do not see it yet even on Canon's north amercia site.

edit: Guess I should have read the entire post first. Sorry for the repeat info.

These inks are supposed to be rated for 100 + years unlike the 6 series inks with 30 + years.

I wonder will they be compatible with the i9900 and other printers using the 6 series inks?
