Note explaining what happened is at the bottom, my last reply, thank you once more to those who took this, I am sorry about the broken nature of that question. If anyone else feels like taking this I shall be taking it down in an hour or two, but more responses never hurt. Oh and if you take it please just put your age as the first thing in the second question.

Tried, but if you're not under 10 years old, you can't enter your age. |

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
I am sorry about the broken survey, I did not have time to test it before leaving this morning. Again I apologize, to those however who responded, thank you a million, I love you. That actually is an understatement. Yes you 15 who responded, I love you. OK so I may be a tat bit ecstatic at the moment. There really were some wonderful responses though. Thank you once again. The internet community definitely is wonderful.
Bit of back story about the reason for the survey. Beginning of the Literature class this project is for we had to pick a topic related to popular culture. I Decided to look at the stereotypical nerd and see how that image has changed, basically what formally would have made one considered nerdy, a pocket protector, cell phone, calculator, ect, now is considered mainstream, what I wanted to find was that the image of the nerd still exists but has changed its definition, you can no longer say a nerd carries a cell phone.
Long story short the project was cancelled because they decided to give us another project. They decided to reinstate it however 2 weeks ago. Sadly they do this just as a bunch of other projects for other classes are due (Sociology : How does IM effect Learning) (Wireless Technology : 3d hand tracking, to be used as 3d mouse, done as a machine vision project) (Calculus 2 : Fractal Generator) (Hobbies/Clubs : Human Powered Submarine design and fabrication of steering, fins, drive chain ; Robotics Design)
Basically I had a lot of work and the first chance I was going to have to do this project was this weekend, sadly I forgot that I had already agreed to do action photography for a non-Profit soccer league which was having a tournament. That is where I was Saturday from 5:30 till 9 pm. This morning I woke up was late so hurriedly threw a few questions up to form a sort of survey and hoped for the best. Just got home from that, and now get to work on this.
Anyway thank you very much to all who took the survey.

I just found out this year what a pocket protector is. I've had nerd at my school, but apparently the definition of "nerd" is totally different (in a way) than it is in Bangkok. Our nerds here usually mean that they don't party so much, heads into books constantly. Then again we've got other nerds that party just about everyday and still get straight A's. Calculator.... it mandatory for everyone to have it so it doesn't define nerd.
I was once called a nerd and I was the happiest person alive. They soon changed it to 'nerd-wannabe'. Fun times.... considering it was only 6 months ago. |

I got them nearly 50 years ago -- my grandfather's company had some made up as promotional items ... |

Yes, but who here knows how to use a slide rule?
For that matter, do you even know what one is? |

I may even still own a sliderule and with a little refresher would be able to use it. Finding it is another story. Why I'd go looking for the dang thing anyway when I have a perfectly good scientific calculator that is a little easier to find. |

If I look around for a while I could find you a circular model as well. |

Okay, this is even worse. What have the western people done to make a nerd more nerdier? So what's a sliderule?
If it's one of those measuring tapes you measure your room with, I've got that. |
