Thought you might like to see a few of the photos from my last photo shoot I did of my friends' kids. I'd really love some input on what you think. The sunlight was a bit strong but that was the only time of the day they could do. Comments greatly appreciated. Hope you enjoy...

Oh, also. If you could let me know your favorite I'd like to know. I think mine is the first one...

If that last one was in black and white....I would love it. I think the grain would look a whole lot better also if it was B&W.

Good work though...very cute pics.

Thanks for the comments. As far as the last one, I did desaturate a bunch but I wanted to leave the color of the leaves in the background since they give a nice color to the photo... You might be right about the grain however...

Beautifully done! The eyes of the little girl in the first shot are just gorgeous. My other favorites are the one of the little boy giving her a kiss, and the shot of them walking away (which I'd also like to see in B&W). Classic poses, and the kids' clothes are perfect - especially her cute dress. Great job!

Overall, looks good
pic one:
Good color and catchlight, I don't like the expression on the subjects face though (this is a very personal thing though).

pic two:
I may have composed a liittle less tightly to include more of the train???
Overall very good candid shot. Good lighting.

Pic three:
Another nice candid moment. I would crop in tighter and consider softening the image and b/w in photoshop for a dreamy effect???

pic four:
Harsh light, fill in flash may have been helpful with a wider aperature to blur the background a bit.

Pic five:
the subject feels too centered, since she is facing left, I would have placed her on the right so she has room to look into the left.

pic six:
Another nice candid shot. Good color and overall nice composition.
I would consider cropping out the bottom dark walkway/sidewalk. I don't think they add much to the picture.

All very cute pics, i like them.
The last one with the grain - high iso or did you push teh levels? Did is show up during the b&W conversion? If levels did it, try curves to lighten the image (drag the left side up)

I recenlty found out how to use DPP (canon's free software) to make b&w and it is 1000% bettter than anything else asn you can drag with your mouse 4 parts of a histogram in real time to make adjustments (raw or jpg files). the only way to go!

Also remember neat image can work wonders.

I did some senior pics last month and had bright sun issues too. I have figured how to fix things. Taking pet pics taught me more as i had to keep the kids from blowing out get teh black dog faces to show details. Make 2 layers in PS, each one adjsuted (levels/curves) part of the pic. Then using a mask on the top layer, set your soft edged brush on 70%/70% (opacity/fill) and paint in the parts of the lower image that you want to see. I did this on 1/2 her face in this pic

One more reason to shoot raw! You can get 4 more stops of exposure than with a jpg. you can push the exposure +2 without adding noise too.

Thanks. I guess I'll have to make the one B&W now since I have gotten two requests already to see it that way.
