Hi all,
I am meeting the alionic and his partner on Saturday 21st January 2006, if anyone is interested in meeting in London to take a few snaps around the city, and a bite to eat etc please let me know and I will organise a meeting place and time near the date depending on my train times from Nottingham.
Regards

Ben
Oddly enough I've organised a London GTG for another photography site I participate in for that same date. The site is called Tips From The Top Floor. If you're interested you could pop over there and see if you'd like to join and maybe join our group - we're going to meet for lunch, shoot around town and into the evening. Looks like we're decided on an after-dark ride on the London Eye too.

Greets Ben.. still hoping for a 21st flight but its really looking like 26th then maybe we could meet 28th weekend or even we could travel up to you... im still trying for 21st but the company we use say it will be hard to get a direct flight that day..
either is fine for us seeing as my first date i told you was 21st.... i think 26th is gonna be the day.

I can't do the 28th as I have something else already booked for that day.
If you want to come upto Nottingham on the Thursday or Friday 26th /27th let me know and I can take some time off work to go out around the sites in Notts.
If there is enough others who want to meet in London on the 21st I can still meet you there. |

I might be available, depending on various other committments that I've got to balance, so add me as a maybe. :o)
Oh, and since there seems to be enough people interested, why not make this an "official" GTG? All the previous ones are just as unofficial - one person deciding to have a GTG and seeing if anyone else wanted to come... Give me a shout and I'll rename the thread to reflect that if you want.

So would we still be looking at the 21st of Jan?

Can I just ask why you're picking a Sunday? The trains are sporadic on a Sunday and if I were to make my way in from Wales I'd be stuck.
Great idea though and if you ever need someone to arrange one in Cardiff/Swansea then by all means I can organize something for us all. |

Thanks Manic.
I think the 21st, I have other commitments on all the other saturdays in January.
It may depend if alonic has any major issues on getting from Japan on that day.
at the moment we might have to wait for alonic to get back to us.
The initial reason for this GTG is for me to collect a lense from him.
It seems that there will be enough of us interested to be able to do the 21st if alonic cannot get anyway.
We will have to suck it and see for the time being.
Thanks for all who have made their interest known.

Given that I'm already doing a London GTG for another photography forum on the same date, I'm out I'm afraid.

Hang on, let's just recap.
When Ben was just looking to meet some other photographers, I suggested he (and others) may want to come along to the GTG I'm organising for another site, Tips From The Top Floor. Anyone into photography would be welcome, though probably want to at least pop heads to that forum and introduce selves.
However, since that invitation, more DPC folks have expressed an interest and it looks as though there will be a full DPC GTG on the 21st anyway.
I'd love to suggest we combine them but honestly, I think it would be way too big, though we could perhaps arrange to meet at a pub during the day.
So... anyone wanting to attend a DPC GTG, please stick to this thread for details, that will be something separate to what I'm putting together. Anyone who, for whatever reason, would like to come along to the TFTF GTG is still welcome to do so! Shane, I know you've already popped over to TFTF and signed up - please feel free to choose whichever of the two GTGs, and don't worry about any offence. Now that DPC is doing a GTG too I will fully appreciate if you'd rather attend that one!
Sorry, I didn't mean to cause any confusion or upset or division - I simply made the offer before it seemed like a DPC GTG was in the pipeline! I organised the first 4 or 5 DPC London GTGs and am certainly not defecting by organising this one for TFTF - we simply set that date aside some time ago!
:o)

well I just came home from a london trip so I don't think I'll be joining you this time, but if you guys are thinking of going out for a bite, there is an Indian resturant across the street from Kings Cross station, it's really small, maby seats for 20 people, but the food is superb, I had chicken Vindaloo there, just spicy enough and really good, it was the best resturant I went to in the 5 days I was in London, even though I did eat out twice a day, always looking for a better resturant, without luck.. went to the Indian restaurant the first night, and then all food I got after that was bad in comparison....
just thought I'd mention it, there are a lot of really BAD restaurants in London ;)
and have fun.. I'll be stuck in school the next 4 months learning photography, so I wont be going anywhere ;)

With your 5D to keep you company, it probably won't be that much of a chore:)

Thanks to all memebers who keep bumping this for in adding their comments.
The more the merrier I say.
Kavey I cannot see a problem that we could meet up somewhere to say hi and compare what or where we have been. (Good luck on your GTG anyway)
smca74 sorry, I cannot do the following week as I have something else already booked that cannot be cancelled.
I will be coming down on the train from Nottingham to St Pancras, looking at the train times if I leave Nottingham on the 6:19am I will be there for about 9am dependingon delays etc.
I will make contact near the time to make final arrangements.
Thanks again.
Ben
