//www.BHPhoto.com is great as Cindi said.
//www.Amvona.com has some great deals, especially through their ebay store.
//www.Onecall.com rocks.
//www.Buydig.com is great too.
//www.Adorama.com is also a big name.

I agree! What I like about them is that you can call their toll-free number, and you get a live person right away. I've dealt with them and with Adorama through Amazon.com, and they are both quite good. One thing I've learned from working for a computer distributor for the past 9 years is that if the price seems too good to be true, it's shady. Grey market is HUGE in computers and electronics, and dealers will pull just about anything to get a leg up on price. Stick with the big names on your photo gear. You may pay a little more, but it's worth it.

Those are scammers from Brooklyn. Not that all stores in Brooklyn are thieves, but there seems to be a concentration of them there.

What usually happens is that you place your order and a guy calls you next day to sell you accessories for ridiculous prices. So if you buy any accessory, you end up overpaying compared to other reputable stores. If you don't want the accessories, suddenly, the stuff that's normally included such as the battery, or the charger, or the cables are now not included. If you still don't buy that stuff, the camera misteriously becoes backordered, which means that you'll never get it.

Avoid those stores, they are thieves.
Here is a website with pictures of the storefronts of the Brooklyn stores.

If you want reputable stores, I'd recommend.
bhphotovideo.com
beachcamera.com
buydig.com
digitalfotoclub.com

these are stores I have bought from and they deliver the product as advertised without any hassel or scamming.

I have bought three camera & two lenses + a number of accessories via www.pricegrabber.com

They rate all of the merchants there. I have never had a bad experience through them.

I have purchased items from Newegg.com with excellent results and no hassles. Their prices are competitive and they don't gouge on shipping, just fair dealing without the crap.
Many online sellers (even on eBay) will insist on a telephone call to "verify information", a ruse to engage in a high pressure sales pitch for stuff that should have been included with the camera, like the battery and battery charger, software, etc.... or a pitch to sell you a higher priced item because they really don't stock the item you purchased, ad nauseum.

I've bought a couple of cameras off Buydig.com with excellent results, and would highly recommend them. I always check Erwin.com when looking for deals on CF cards, and have had perfect results with all their transactions. Both are very speedy shippers. Hope this helps!

my biggest camera purchase off the internet was for my rebel xt I got it from ebay for a cheap price and very good package, no problems at all. Just did alot or research comparing prices and reading reviews on online stores or ebay sellers. Turned out good and I am happy I got it now.

In my humble opinion, bargain shopping via the internet is not a good idea when it comes to higher priced items such as camera gear and accessories. Every time I have seen a deal that looked too good to be true, the resellerratings.com site usually confirmed my suspicions. I stick with B&H Photo for almost everything I buy online. Their prices are competitive and I have yet to be disappointed with them after spending over $13000 in the last two years.

I primarily use B&H. I only had one problem with them and it was resolved. I used the new "bill me later" plan to get the 90 days same as cash deal. Somehow my account got merged with some lady in Indiana and all my stuff was being shipped there. I called and they straightned it out and I got my stuff. I got in 8 days instead of 3 but I got it.
I've bought from Amazon, Adorama and Buydig also with no problems. I prefer buying online because you can save hundreds of dollars vs. buying in the store. Here's an example. The local Best Buy has a Canon EX430 flash unit for $349. I can get it at B&H for $239.
Check several reputable places before you buy though. Some are more expensive than others. An example. Ritz and Porters sell the 17-40mm f/4L for $799 B&H and Adorama sell it for $679.
I personally don't like E-Bay and won't buy anything on there although I know people that buy on there everyday with no problems.
Stick with the companies people at DPC tell you are Okay and you shouldn't have any problems.
