AF-S VR-Nikkor 70-200mm 1:2.8G
Sharpness, Bokeh... and not bad reach with a DX format sensor. |

Nikon 70-200 VR f2.8
But I would love to make the Nikon 200-400 VR f4 my favorite if anyone wants to donate 5K to me. |
Exactly what you have posted goes for me as well, except I got my Nikon 1.7x teleconverter last week. I'm still working on getting the images a little clearer in anything other than full daylight.
Oh, and I'll take one of those Nikon 200-400 VR f4's when the donations start coming in. |

I'm not selling, but I'd have to take the Canon 100mm f2.8 macro as my favourite lens. If you're a fan of macro you'll love it, and unlike the newer 60mm macro it's a plain EF mount so it'll fit that 5D you're eyeing up :) |

Hi,
1. Nikkor 85mm F1.4
2. 70-200 VR
3. 35mm F2e - this little lense is tidy compared with the bazookas above. Cheap, sharp and approximates 52mm with DX sensor so makes an ideal 'normal' lens for the D200.
Keith.

I'm gonna throw a vote out for my tokina 12-24mm f4. Not great for my portriats but I use it all the time for my landscape and photo journalism work. |

The one that gets me the shot. Currently my 17-40L isn't getting me the wide angle shot I want and my 70-200L isn't getting me the 400mm shot I want. Other than that I'm fine with any of the lens I have in shooting the range I am covered in. However, I might think differently if I shot more low light or fast action subjects. |

Canon EF 100-33/5.6L. It is old lens, but the sharpest in the 300 setting. |

No favorite. They all come in handy. Probably a toss up between 85 1.8, 50 1.8 and 24-104 as far as time spent mounted. |

The right lens for the job, obviously. :)
Though if I had to choose, I'd have to say my Super Takumar 50/1.4. My Pa bought this lens 30 years ago at a bazaar in Singapour and it with his Spotmatic, it served him for thousands of slides in foreign lands. Now, with a handy adapter, it's sharpness, speediness and bokeh live on in the digital realm.
In the ancient days of photography, an old, well cared for lens was highly prized. This was partly because an accumlation of smoke / moisture / whatever gave the uncoated glass a natural, unintended coating which increased contrast. In the days of rare earth coated, super low dispersion, aspherical optics, I'm pretty sure this sort of runic myth no long holds, but I still like to think of all my glass as prized possessions that will hold even more value when I pass them on to my (hypothetical) children. |

Ditto, this lens really agrees with me. I suppose the 50mm is second to that one but well the most versatile to me is the 24-70, if I am going out not knowing what I am going to shoot or what to expect, that one is always in the bag. |

I like and use 90 percent of the time my Nikon mount Sigma 180MM F3.5 Macro EX/HSM. One day I'll get a Nikkor macro, hopefully the 200MM. If it works better than the Sigma I'll really be surprised.

My current favourite is the 85 1.8. I'd pick that over the 70-200 F4L or 17-40 F4L and quite a few other fine lenses that I have, like the 100 2.8 or 50 1.4
It suits what I'm interested in shooting right now. Zooms seem to be becoming less and less interesting to me.

The Canon 85mm f/1.8 USM is my favorite by far. I've thought about trading in my primes for a 24-85 2.8L, but I just don't know that I could part with the 85 1.8.

Canon 17-55 F2.8 My new love, we're very close, I think it will be a long and happy relationship! I'm crazy about the length and the IS is just icing on the cake. Crisp, clean, and shaaaaaaaaaaarp. 2nd fav would be the 50 1.4 though.... that lens has been very good to me.

My 105 2.5 AIS Nikkor, because I am too poor to afford a nice portrait lens at the moment. Serves me well though. Love the build on it. |
