My goodness, why the name-calling, i.e. troll? Please take no offense, but we should be good sports about this and not result to name-calling. It's so immature.

Has it occured to any of us that maybe the image is terrific, but it does not meet the challenge? Should we give the good image high scores simply because it's a good and correct image, but fails to meet the challenge?

Should we rate it a mere 5 instead of a 7-10? I like to take the challenge into consideration while voting and I don't vote on the image all by itself without seeing if it meets the challenge as well.

Btw, my image is the usual 4.8. I'd be happy with a 5.3!

Peace to all you excellent photographers. It's a pleasure to see your imaginations and talent at work. I'm constantly impressed!

cheers to you all. :)

My, my... we have a virgin forum user here.

:)

A 'troll' is a typical internet forum term used to describe (mostly) noobs (newbies) who are not visiting dpchallenge to improve their photography but mostly use it as a means to kill time.

And in doing so, voting low for the sake of voting, or perhaps because they find it amusing.

Hiya Darlene :) Welcome to the threads ;) Since I called them out I might as well say why I or "we" call them trolls. These folks are pretty much rampant all over and they don't seem to shy away from swinging the 1 and 2 bats in any direction. Just like what Guyver says, these folks think that if they give an image a 1 or 2 that the image will suffer. However, if an image is strong and meets the challenge to the tee, then these troll votes are like pesky mosquitoes that bug the heck out of you but don't really do any harm.

When someone gives an image a vote of 1 it bothers me because no image ever deserves a 1. If somone gives a 1 to a poorly shot image, at least come out and tell the person why a 1 was cast. If a 1 is given to a good technical and appealing image, I suspect it's only out of spite ;)

Cheers!

LoL! I guess I'm a bit naive. I try to be so honest. It's sad someone has that much time on their hands, they are willing to hurt others for amusement or out of boredom. I'm extremely serious while voting.

If you only new how much time I spend on my photos and they are shot down! I'm thinking I should take some photography classes, as this skill is as hard as painting or drawing. I take all comments very seriously and also with a grain-of-salt. :)

I've been here over a year now.

Hi Rikki and Guyver and everyone else for that matter!

I see what you mean about the trolls. I can't imagine giving a photo a 1. I feel badly giving out 3's and 4's, but sometimes the image is simply ghastly on all levels. (and that's kinda rare)

I have to admit competition makes one strive to become a better photographer.

I caught the culprit that's been giving you all the 1's...
He's admitted to been giving out 1's since he was born! :p
