It's simple! Peel off the "YES, I'm an idiot" sticker and affix it to the dotted box on page 2, complete the entry form including credit card numbers (with CVV2 codes), provide several samples of your signature, any unused checks you have lying around, your driver's license (copies will not be accepted), a signed copy of the pink slip to your primary vehicle, a medical release form allowing us to have one of your kidneys (for verification purposes only). Place all these items in a box along with the $600 conference fee and if your number (549387539573294758734753249730985732904572934) is picked in our nearly random drawing, you will be included in our poetry book. |
I'm cool with everything except the kidney part. I already gave both of mine to this guy at the gas station. Can I get a waiver, or substitute a liver or lymph node or something, and still get in on this sweet deal ??? |

No, just an arm or a leg (or preferably both) will be fine. |

My favorite part is the Conference Non-Attendance fee that some of these folks are paying.
That's the best kind of money out there. Ask for 169.00 bucks from hundreds of thousands of people you know can't/won't attend, tell them it is to cover the cost of "Showing" their pic at the convention in their absence. Then either flash it up on a screen for 5 seconds, or heck don't show it at all. Who will know?
These non-attendees do however get the Silver "Super Snapper" bowl and plated medallion though.

Once I found out about the conference I went on-line to see what is was all about and then registered for the conference. They said there was a contest and first place was $10,000.00. You needed to bring a photo no larger than an 8 X 10 to enter. I have a few pix on picture.com under Donna Caste and Donna M. Castle. |

I've never won :(
I did upset an (ex) girlfriend who 'won' on the poetry side of things by winning there with a haiku I wrote describing it as a scam and sham, though.

Dear Thomas,
The 2008 International Society of Photographers Convention and Symposium is fast approaching, and I have not heard if you will be attending. Thomas, I can only hold your place for one more week. I would like to remind you of your nomination as Amateur Photographer of the Year for 2008 and entrance into the 2008 International Open Invitational Photography Contest. This will be your last chance to share your photographs and the stories behind them at the most prestigious gathering of professional and amateur photographers ever assembled -- The International Society of Photographers Annual Convention and Symposium, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, March 27-30, 2008. The deadline to register for this exciting event is next Monday, March 10, 2008.
You will be honored with two separate and very special
awards for your photographic achievement.
Outstanding Achievement in Photography Crystal Award Trophy
In front of fellow photographers from around the world, amidst the applause from the audience, you will be formally presented with your Outstanding Achievement in Photography Crystal Award Trophy. The award is a magnificent work of art in itself ($300.00 value), made from imported lead crystal. It is hand-engraved and mounted on a solid base. This will be the first time ever that we have bestowed these crystal awards. This impressive crystal award is so valuable that we have designed a special carrying case just for you to take it home.
And Thomas . . . there's much more . . .
In recognition of your photography, we will also create and present to you a beautiful and colorful Commemorative Award Medallion to honor your dedication and achievements.
PHOTOGRAPHY . . . PHOTOGRAPHY . . .

And, Thomas, new this year we’re hosting the 2008 International Open Invitational Photography Contest, where you’ll use the digital camera you receive at the convention to photograph any one of the many sites and scenes in Las Vegas and enter your best photo, which could win a second Grand Prize of $10,000!

I too have been selected to go to this thing in Las Vegas and refuse to reply to them. I feel that if I have to pay for something that I have won then it is crap. Unfortunatly the first photo I submitted I did buy the book and then the other two photos were selected to be published in two different books. I have been receiving emails and mail stating that I have been selected numerous times for the International Society of Photographers, let alone I supposedly won awards for my "outstanding" photography but then I have to pay for it. That is crap, if I won the awards why am I paying for it. That is why it is called an award. So now I am searching the web for other photography contests to submit my work.
By the way what do you think about Red Bubble? |
