| I think this may be the lowest entered challenge ever. No science geeks out there willing to do refraction? It could be fascinating. Anyway, I'm in and hope that the lack of entries may actually place me in the top 20. Get your prisms and crystals and give this one a try. It is great fun. |

I've tried about 6 different shots and haven't liked a single one yet!!!
Going to try a few things tonight!

I will have one submitted tonight. I did some shooting last night and it didn't come out quite how I want so I will do again tonight. Every time I think I have a winner I get slammed in voting. My guess is that the slight reflection in my masterpiece may take away from all that wonderful refraction... I predict a top 200 finish for myself!

Same here.. I tried a few but liked NONE and I am living with a mad scientist at the moment (really) but it looks great to the eye but not as a photo.. so...
I done the Toy challenge and I hit a cracker.. it will either ribbon or bomb out like a lead brick in a pond.

I'm in. Rather unsure of what sort of response my entry will get .... we'll see.
This just sounded so much more exciting and creative than Child's Toy. |

Got an entry in refraction that I like but it doesn't have the super bright colors that voters require.

Also, if you take a clear glass of water, put a straw in it, look at it from different angles, it looks like the straw is bent. Due to the refraction of light passing thru it.

| There could be another 20 or 30 entries before the deadline. I put mine in last Friday .. then again today after a reshoot. |

| well im in, had a brilliant idea, just had to wait for the right time, which thankfully was yesterday. I have my entry in, maybe we'll all finish with a top 100???? :) |

I think I have my entry. I found one while I was out yesterday, which is what I really like to do, rather than studio stuff.
I may try something at home later with the strobes, but I'll probably just enter what I have, it's pretty cool.

In theroy, one could simply take a shot of anything that is "sunlit" and it would qualify as "refraction". Now tell me if I'm wrong "scientifically" but:
Sunlight starts out in a vacuum and then passes through Earth's atmosphere which at that point has refracted....soooo....
...something as simple as a shot of a sunset would technically "meet the challenge"

Why go to such great extremes when every drop of light that passes through to your sensor is refracted? :P |

Well...surely when it passes thru the lens it is refracted!
I'm not sure it passes thru the sensor.

Unfortunately for that theory, if you don't SHOW refraction in your picture, you'll probably get a 4.5 at best.
