Ok, I'm in and I never took a studio-like portrait before so I don't expect it to even score average, but who cares. It was fun to do and that's what counts.

I am in as well.
It will be a fun challenge for me because I did something completely different then I am used to.
This time I wasnt shooting for the highest possible score, but just for myself... So I am very anxious to see how low this will score.
I am guessing an 5.6 and I have a dpc friendly one that would score a 6+ easy, but choose the fun one...
I just need to learn to relax when it comes to DPC, have fun i.s.o worrying about scores, avg votes and favorites...
I hope my experiment works, for my own sake...

Where are those professional portrait photograpehers out there???
kiwiness? nasti? cindi? hello? |
Sonifo's "Dainty Gem" took blue in the first color portrait challenge and that was full body. I'm guessing if it looks great it'll probably do well. |
Standard portraits are either 'headshot' (which usually includes shoulders), '2/3 body' or 'full body'. But I'm guessing with DPC voters, closer shots may score better -- I could be wrong though as Yanko stated.

See you need to shoot the winner the first time. Then no decisions just ribbons.

BTW, I think yanko is mislead to think that Soni's image was in the first color portrait. WHile in fact it was a Color Portrait challenge, this is the first Color Studio Portrait challenge. |

I believe a portrait is what the photographer believes the composition consists of. Here are several examples of our team portrait photographer Dave Matson, He does really nice work getting variety out of the thousands of girls photographed each season
So in this example a portraitcan contain head and toes and more than one person

Haha I didnt do it for anybody else then myself.
To teach myself a lesson and see the fun again in DPC.
I lucked out a few times and now I worry about my avg score going down...
So now I made a decision: Have fun, stop worrying...
You see what I mean after the challenge, look me up, Ill be somewhere on page 9 or 10 ;)

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one. I've made my decision a couple of minutes ago after hesitating 2 days, lol. And still I'm not satisfied about my submission.

No expensive studio lighting and no money to pay models to pose under artificial light. I'll sit this challenge out. It's okay... not every challenge can be inclusive of all members.
I will, however, vote. |
