I don't understand. When I look at your profile it shows you have received 136 more comments than you have given. What am I missing?

I don't understand. When I look at your profile it shows you have received 136 more comments than you have given. What am I missing?

Actually, I asked that question myself. I assumed I had 130 comments-to-give, and wasn't even gonna attempt it, but when I clicked the link it told me I needed to give up another 36 or something like that, I can't remember. So I jumped all over that, been commenting for hours, before they changed their mind :-)

I actually asked ClubJuggle about this, because I haven't made anything LIKE 130 comments since April 26th (last update), and he wasn't sure of the explanation either. But a good working hypothesis is this: my DQ'd ribbon-winner has well over a hundred comments. It is possible that they are not counting on my current comments list, but are somehow still retained by the archival list. That's all I can think of; the numbers corresponded pretty closely.

All I know is, I've made over 2900 comments for sure, and the program let me enter, and I'm fine with that :-) My three most-commented-upon images have about 425 comments, collectively; that's a huge hill to climb up from under, for anyone. I shudder to think how bad it must be for the people who ribbon every week or so. Like Rikki: he's been here a year, he's made over 2200 comments, and he STILL has to "make up" well over 100 comments... And, bless his soul, he's giving it a shot :-)

i didn't have any problem qualifying for this one. when you're as mediocre a photographer as i am you don't attract too many comments, so making more comments than i receive is no problem. :)

Sheesh, I qualify and we have had wonderful weather for over a week .... until Saturday when it started raining and they predict rain for the next two days ... sigh!! Just my luck! Do you think a picture of water drops in a puddle of water in the driveway might do the job hehehe.

Wooohooooo! I qualified! FINALLY! But there's a problem. When I went back to edit my image, it said that I still had to comment on "xx" amount of images. But the entry is in there but I just can't edit them. I asked Terry about it and he said it might be due to people commenting on my recent 1-4-1 thread. So it doesn't really matter if you're able to catch up on the comments. You NEED to get way ahead it seems. Well at least until rollover.

I looked at my profile again and from it it seems I am behind by 565 comments. I can assure you I didn't comment on that many images. There seems to be a glitch in the system. I believe I only had to comment on about 200+ or so. I agree with Bear about the DQs no bearing on the tally but I only have 58 comments there. I'm puzzled if you ask me.

With over 2300+ comments (at least on my profile) not counting the comments in the current challenges, I have commented on at least 7 images per day over the last year. So to the naysayers out there who are disappointed or even pissed at the fact that some of us are rebounding and trying to climb back up on our commenting, pffffftttt! Stop complaining and just enter an image for pete's sake! Like Robert said, some of us are diligent in commenting but we get lucky sometimes and come away with ribbons and get flooded with comments. All are great and definitely appreciated so keep them coming :) We'll just have to comment more next time ;)

And like Robert, my three top commented images total 365 comments. Not as much as his but that's a lot. This is why when I can see that my image will bee commented on well, I always make it a point to give at least 2 comments per 1 comment received back in the fold.

Yee Haw, we both made it! And I agree with ya 100% on your "pfft" comment: I mean, the whole purpose of the exercise is to reward people who comment a lot, right? Not punish people who receive a lot of comments, surely?

It occurs to me that challenges like this might better be based on the ratio of comments made to time served, perhaps; it's the people who crank 'em out, day in and day out, that keep the machine running, and nobody ought to be penalized for bein popular IMO.
