I can't find the thread now. I had asked what those numbers meant and you took a jab at those that used them.

I was referring to this:

Can someone explain to me what these numbers mean? I've seen a lot of people mentioned their number to an particular entry however when I look at their profile the numbers don't match up. For example in kiwiness has only entered 75 challenges so how can this be his 108th entry? |
I started doing this with all my entries. I always start by saying what entry number I am :) It makes it fun for me to keep track :) |
Or Yanko.....they have too much time on their hands...hehehe! |

You have lost me completely Yanko. I understand what the Entry #'s are. And all I said was that I was Entry Number 12 in this particular challenge...a simple fact. What is so confusing about that.? Yes...it is a bit of fun...but certainly not a jab at others!

When I read your response to me from another thread about the same subject I thought you were making fun of those that posted their entry numbers. I'm referring to this quote from you, "Or Yanko.....they have too much time on their hands...hehehe!" I was just bringing it up to poke fun at you but apparently my attempt at humor failed miserably. :(

Yanko...that is the problem with forums...you can never really tell if something was meant to be humourous or not.
My original post on the other thread was meant at having a laugh WITH the posters...not AT them!!
I honestly thought you were having a go at me by stating what entry number I was. I apologise if I came across the wrong way.

I just submitted mine and had acciedntally not reduced it down. The warnnig was that I exceeded the 200kb limit. So file size has increases for thisone as well even though the description still states 150kb. |

This will be my very first entry, but I've running into a little bit technical problem. How do I resize the file in photoshop? I went to Image size, then change the resoultion under Document size to bring the file down to be under 150k...Is that the right way? I compared the modified file with any entry pictures on the webstie, and my picture was so much smaller. Can anybody help? Thanks. |

Edit because I'm typing & eating at same time :P |
Really! But I think I should re-shoot Levitation and see if I can get past the DQ request that it will get. I never got an answer for whatever reason in the forums from more than 2 SC and they differed in opinion about the shot. So maybe I should take my chance and get it answered that way.
Any thoughts? |
I would just cover the forks with a camo cloth |

Its DNMC, but wouldn't be a popular move among the masses.

I would think that most are holding you to your honor that since it is a self portrait challenge, that it will be a self portrait. However, just as with the wildlife challenge and it being in their "natural" environment, I expect there will also be some variations here as there was in that challenge. Therefore, if no one knows the difference of if it is actually you or not, I guess it won't effect the voting. However, afterwards, especially if it wins, I would expect a lot of flack for not following the "spirit of the challenge". |

So in other words you can't use an actor to play your part? :P

LOL...Yes, you can use a model, but just as I stated above, it may not be accepted all that well if it wins top three. I mean, I would love to use a size 7 16-year-old to portray me, but it wouldn't really "be" me but the 16 year old. So it would get hammered as a "self" portrait as not being within the spirit of the challenge.
I think that the whole idea here is to step out of your safe zone and show yourself, even if in an obscure way. It is not about photographing just anyone. At least that is my opinion. |

It's become a tradition of sorts for me to post a photo of myself at the end of any of my adventuring photo essays.
I also have a habit of turning the camera on myself when I just get plain too bored.
So you would think that this challenge would be a snap, but heh, none of the above are ever anything artistic, and what's good enough for a few virtual catcalls in blog land won't even begin to cut it around here, eh?
Well, after three locations, 184 photos, two instances of the laptop overheating and three hours of PhotoShop, I have an entry I think is pretty decent. It'll score in the low fives as usual, I'm sure ;-)
