I agree you. I'll try not to be so cautious, but I'm not sure I can. I try always very strongly not to offend. Anyway, it's a good disclaimer IMO.

We should not get offended by any kind of the comment from anyone in this group. We are all here with the same goal of learning better. The comments are nothing but mere opinion from the commentrator. If you don't agree to the opinion, feel free to PM the same. But please let not make this formal.

Thoughts?

I do honestly say everything I can think of to critique a photo, but I always make a point of trying to find something to praise as well. How do we know what we've done right unless someone tells us that part as well?

Don't be causious for me.
If I don't like it I will PM you and nobody will get hurt :-)

Also there is another thing I would like to mention:

It is good to use the "Photographer's Comments" on every submission to explain to us and other users, what it is you wanted to accomplish with the picture and also the editing steps.

Agree completely. It's very useful when you're commenting in order to let you know if you have acomplished your goal. It also help to see the shutter speed, aperture and iso.

Today I've decided that I shall attend to DPC stuff that I've had pending.
I shall be commenting on the photos I've not yet commented on today, even if it takes the whole day.
Please let's not kill the disclaimer. I like disclaimers. They're like elephants. And fishballs.
Thanks.

i'm very very sorry to say this, but life has become extremely complicated at the moment. i'm afraid i'll have to back out of the trading post, as i can't give the proper time needed to do it properly.

thank you to all who gave such useful crits, and i hope the ones i gave were helpful. keep on going with this - it's a great exercise for both givers and receivers.

again, i do apologise. but - there's now space for a new member!

Ahww!!
Sad to see you go:( Good luck with everything and I'll still give a comment now and then:)

Don't worry, xianart - if you're choosing to focus on real life stuff over a silly website, then you've got your priorities straight.

Is anyone else absolutely sick of looking at their pathetic DPC Cinema scores? I've got a Still Life and a Self-Portrait ready to go and I'm just itching to see the voting on them since I think I did pretty well with these two, especially the self-portrait. DPC Cinema has been such a dog! Urgh!

I have a Environmental Portrait, hope it is ok.
Sad to see Xianart, who started this group, go away.

Xianart, I hope everyting is ok.

As for the rest of you guys, who has entries in DPC Cinema? I'm in but it isn't doing great so maybe you guys can tell me why! :P

Sorry to see you go, Xianart. If you enter challenges, I'll still try and comment.

I'm in for the Env. Portrat, unless I decide to yank it in the next 47 minutes.

Hey guys, could you do a favor? I just pulled a Critique Club picture for one of your members. Like I said in the comments, there are no hard feelings, but when you are getting 9 and 10 GOOD comments (yea, I read them, they ARE good), it would really help the critique club if you wouldn't check the box for a critique club critique. That way, maybe someone who is new to photography or to the site would have a better chance of getting a comment to help them.

Thanks.

Back to your regularly scheduled thread.

I don't check that box any more especially now I'm in the critique club also. Btw, I checked the forum for that and there's no welcome to the club thread going. I feel like I just sneaked in the back door with now welcome party. :( :P

There has been so much argument over what is and is not good for DPCC that I honestly have no clue as to what or why. But we're six minutes away from catching a glimpse at what survived the carnage ;-)
