| Wow, I have been so busy with work, I forgot to check this thread. GO South Korea! On the side note, go USA, way to stay in the game and in my opinion come out with a defeat against the Italians, the only loss was for both sides to the terrible ref. He should be shot like Escobar in 94 after scoring on his own team, too bad he isn't from Columbia. |

Another win for Brazil. My next door neighbours and the family across the street are Brazilian. You should hear the racket whenever Brazil scores, you'd think that you were attending a Brazilian street carnival or something :) On a sidenote, does anybody else think that Chaves Fred has got the greatest surname in football?

Let's go Le Oranje!
What a matchup: Netherlands v. Argentina. I know Argentina is supposed to be great, but the Netherlands are a kick ass team. I am actually picking the Netherlands and not just because they are my team. Robben has been one of the top 5 players in the entire Cup. And that is not even mentioning the 5 or 6 other "names" that bolster this great team.

I switched on the England-Sweden match at 5.15 this morning, when the score was 1-1. I noticed than whenever the Swede took a corner, he placed the ball outside the arc, which is technically illegal but probably doesn't make any difference physically. Eventually, there was a corner on the far side, and the linesman made him put the ball in the arc. After this, the referee made him put it in the arc when there was a corner on the near side.
Finally, I saw a replay of the Swedes' first goal. Lo and behold, it came from a corner with the ball outside the arc. Having once been a qualified referee (because the refereeing course was in the library near my house), I would say that the corner would need to be taken again.
But hey, I've got two hours to fill in before I go to Honda and you can ignore this at your pleasure. ;-) |
