Anyone that has anything to say?
I used to use the Canon 100 mm 2,8 Macro (mark1) And i liked that lens a lot. Then i sold it and got me the Sigma 105 2,8 macro instead, and im a bit dissapointed !
Feels so damn soft, perhaps since i use L lenses a lot theese days but still!
What are your experiences? Am i just to picky?
Thanks! |

I've been very pleased with the results from my Sigma 105 macro, but I haven't been able to compare it directly to Nikon glass in the same focal length range.
This lens has won quite a few ribbons here at DPC.
Maybe you have a 'duff' one? |

I like my sigma f2.8 105mmand find its very sharp. The focusing could be better, tends to hunt alot and if it misses you have to wait for the lens to focus all the way in then all the way back to where you were.
So i usually focus manually now.
One of my pics latest pics from it, certainly not soft.

I absolutely love mine. Remember also, that this lens won two of the three ribbons in the current "flowers" challenge. You only need to see what magic Ursula makes with it, to be sold on this lens. |

Looks good here. 11/15 shots over a 7.

If you consider the sigma 105 2.8 soft, then possibly you have a defective copy. That lens is anything but soft, in my opinion. If someone set 3 16x20 prints, one with a Canon 100, one with a Nikkor 105, and one with a Sigma 105, side by side by side...I'd be willing to bet no one in their right mind would ever know the difference...and anyone that claimed to know a difference would be lying.

Ursula's Gallery, so to speak.
This is one crisp, beautiful lens.

Hmm well perhaps its me then shit behind the lens ;)
The pics you posted surely aint soft, a question though at what aperture does this lens blossom ? And well perhaps i should learn to use my tripod a bit more since its easy to move and shale a bit at 1:1 and that doesnt help to get sharp chrisp photos!
Anyone has som good tips on macro photography? Im thinking of getting a reverse ring and put my 50mm 1,4 on it for extreme closeups what you think about that?
Thanks all! |
