Heck, mine includes both definitions of perspective (an interesting angle and a vanishing point) and I'm under 5. Blah.

I get the vanisihing point thing, and I'm usually a stickler for details, but geez, JUST vanishing point??

Oh well, my "10" shot is doing OK and I am off to the beach on a 2 day business trip.

be kind o ye gentle voters.

All those perspectives have vanishing points (except big to small, I don't know what that is). You don't necessarily see the vanishing point, it may not even be within the frame of the picture, but it is still there. If you mean that your vanishing point is not visible, then that's a horse of a different color. I'll give you a good score, but lots of other DPCers probably won't.

edited to say: I realize my perspective is skewed (so to speak) because I come from a drawing background. When you're drawing a scene, you generally have to find the vanishing point regardless of whether or not it features in your picture.

My, whatalotofquotes. I think the 'vanishing point' reference is being used from different - er - perspectives here. (Although I also think that that use of the p word is not useful in the context of the challenge). Vanishing points don't actually exist, except as visualised and plotted by draughtsmen to reproduce perspective (the appearance of things to be smaller when further from the eye) as we see it, on a two dimensional surface. Having plotted the points, construction lines can then be drawn that meet at vanishing points (often virtual points as they are off the paper) and the drawing can be planned around them.

That probably didn't make much sense, but I think the term 'VP' is as often as not used to refer to the lines, or to pictures that very ostentatiously feature them. That may be fair enough, as some of them do sort of slap you upside the head with vertiginous Kowalski zooming convergences. Then again that's dramatic effect through the use of perspective which is sort of 'the point'. Unless the point is to do whatever is least obvious. Anyway, there are very few flowers in this challenge, so what can you hate? Tram lines. Check.

Am I still going on

yes, please recall that I said using a vanishing point is the EASIEST way to show perspective. It is not the ONLY way...

According to the dictionary:

-A view or vista.
-A mental view or outlook
-The appearance of objects in depth as perceived by normal binocular vision.
-The technique of representing three-dimensional objects and depth relationships on a two-dimensional surface

...the worst part is I'm usually going d'oh, why did I enter that by this point. But I actually think this meets the challenge well and looks good technically, so I'm stumped.

Seems to want to settle there.

Mine still sux. :) I'll make it up next round.

I'm VERY nervous about my abstract. I'm not a big abstract photographer so not sure how it will be received. I like it but not my kind of challenge. Hopefully it will be fine.

Still tetering between the two exclusives. I will go to the beach and see what I can find but who knows, I may find lines while there to. lol.

Looks like we can dance again if you want. I've been sitting 6.30 for much of the day, but it bounces up and down and currently I'm at 6.23, so somewhat lower...

5.6 - excellent for me, but down from an early 6.0 last night. Those were heady times. And I have had one DNMC comment because my photo is not a "representation of a 3d subject in 2 dimensions" or some such garbage. Isn't perspective just a point of view? Argh.

BUT!!!!! Someone picked my picture as a favorite!!!! The first time that has hapened to me, so I am stoked and can go to bed happy. And get up at ten minutes past the hour all night to see if my lofty 5.6 holds up. Just kidding. Probably.

Rised by 0.4! Just a further 0.4 needed to reach my average! My first comment! And she gave me a 10! I'm so happy!
(But still, never again will I try to please voters with my entry!)

Yeah, nice to see a bit of a jump on mine also. Seems to be doing well at this time of day (last night and today). Now only if I can ban those east coast Americans from voting I'll be really happy. :P

Looking at Idnic's and Maestro's views/votes ratio, I wonder why mine is slow.
