I think the challenge is not that easy to shot. When it comes to bits and pieces, we (neat photographers) find hard time to shot something that messy...

| I was hoping for a lot of exploding objects - glasses, plates, mirrors. With a few notable exceptions, I was suprised at the lack thereof. |

Yeah, it must be that... Actually I think it had to do with no description of the challenge... At least for me it was difficult to understand it, `cause I dont know if "bits and pieces" means something specific, like and american slang... |

I shot a piece of xxx and a whole lot of bits of yyy and got a comment that I don't meet challenge...9 other comments say it does so..... :P

I think once again the problem is that all challenges don't have the same name and description.
'Action photos' will, by their nature have a certain linear and literary element.
'Bits and pieces' invites chaos in composition.
'Zen' - well, I don't think there's a lot of consensus there, but the ideal would demand, like a koan, that perception be put on trial.
The winners will probably be pictures that would have done well in just about any challenge, that have a minimum of chaos, make minimal demands on perception and bear the seeds of a human story.
Er- this is just a thought, by the way. A comment to complement the comment of the original post.

| I'm still disapointed in my score in the bits and pieces. I'm getting downvoted horribly, and only 2 comments there and neither describing whats wrong with the photo (when in reality there is none really) |

i have no comments on my bits & pieces and have a 5.3, my Zen however is at 5.6, but i think my bits shot looks better. hmmmmm.............

Well i have entered the Bits and Piece's challenge.
But honestly the challenge has some very poor entries ........ and it is possible that someone might have said the same 4r my entry.
Only reason why i voted in the challenge is because i myself have participated in it..... and would like to see where i stand myself .
However there are a couple of entries which are pretty good and worth having a look at......
But all in all the majority of entries lack asthetic sense......
