Hello,

Question. Today I was at the beach trying to photograph my friend against the evening sunset. I opened my aperture wide open, then took a reading for the sky which was basically at 1/4000.

My plan was to expose for the sky, then use a fill flash to light my friend's face. Problem was, once I turned my inbuilt flash on, my Exposure time went to 1/500 and wouldn't go down any further. Why is this? I could overcome it by closing down my aperture a little, but am still not content with why I wasn't allowed to shorten my exposure time with the flash out.
Anyway of overcoming this?

thanks

Julius
