i think my photo is worthy of a 6+ especially with all the new friendly voters around. anyway, the fact that mine seems to be 'fooling' some voters while 'not fooling' others has my score lower then it should be. oh well. anyway my point is your voting on the photograph and it's contents not if it looks to good to be real....right?

Is it just me or are there a lot of pictures in this challenge that have the horizon tilted? We had the same problem with On the Beach and I thought there would be less of it here, but I was wrong. It's an easy fix and should be done, unless it's intentional. I doubt most of these are intentional.
Also, with all the sunset and low light situations, many pictures have plenty of noise. I'm more forgiving of the noise than tilted horizons, but Neat Image, Noise Ninja, or one of the other programs can clear up most of it. Neat Image is free up to 1024 pixels so cost shouldn't be a factor.
I now return the thread to posting scores... |

Last night hit 5.885 before I went to bed -- was hoping I'd wake up to 5.9. Alas, such was not to be.
This being my first time, I was a little gun-shy on what sort of editing was permissable under "basic editing" rules. Plus, this one wasn't shot FOR the contest -- it was one I happened to take in that interval that matched the challenge. With those in mind, I'm happy with how it's doing alongside arranged studio-shots from people far more experienced with the tastes of DPChallenge viewers.

The score, she is a wild beast that cannot be tamed, my friend. Listen to her whisper, calling you, "check your score...check your score..." Alas, I am caught in her rapture, cannot escape her tight grip on my mouse, dragging me to inexorably towards the update button...run, escape while you can!
The score, she go up over 6.9, she make me smile, then she crush me and show me I have no control. She show me I must beg even to beat my personal best of 6.6. She show me that even with 7 favorites, she will not let me be happy!

Seriously, a few of the dozen or so comments that I received sort of tell me why. Otherwise, I'm sure it would be somewhere in the 6 range (or higher). I know what else I needed to do to the photo. It was an oversight on my part. I can't believe I missed it. :-(
