At an even 5.0. I see my voters are sitting happily on the fence! But, I completely agree with my single commentor who
"observed" my struggle with this photo, and voted very correctly for it. |

Excuse my ignorance, but how do you know the individual scores? I just see the total I've scored so far, but not the individual vote numbers - where do I find that?
Thanks in advance |

Well, some people use complicated methods involving excel or something like that but I just use a simple arithmetic method along with jotting down my score in a little notebook whenever I update it.
You can only figure out the exact vote you received if only one vote has been given since the last time you wrote the score down. For example (this is from a previous challenge):
At 221 votes the score is 5.6154
221 x 5.6154 = 1241
At 222 votes the score is 5.6126
222 x 5.6126 = 1246
The number of the vote given is the difference of the two:
1246 - 1241 = 5
So, A score of 5 was given.
Lots of times, you have to round the number up a bit when you multiply the vote x score number. The auctual number you get when you multiply 222x5.6126 is 1245.9972 - you round it up to 1246.
If more than one vote has passed since you wrote down your score you have to divide the difference by the number of votes to get an average of the votes given.
For example:
at 255 votes the score is 5.6392
255 x 5.6392 = 1438
at 257 votes the score is 5.6381
257 x 5.6381 = 1449
Subtract the totals:
1449 - 1438 = 11
Two votes were given that equal 11 - so, most likely with the score this picture has been getting the votes are a 5 & 6.
If two votes added up to 11 on a picture that was scoring in the high 6's or 7's you would porbably figure it was an 8 and a 3 or even a 9 and 2.
This sounds long and complicated but it's really super simple when you get in the habit of doing it. Usually, I write my scores down each time I check them and then if you see a sudden drop or rise you can multiply things out and figure out what vote you received.

Sammie,
Thanks for that most excellent explaination - I thought there must have been a button I was missing or something - GRIN - not quite that simple!
Appreciate your response. Good luck with the challenge!

"it's time for another color challenge. This time around, your submission should show or suggest to the viewer the color purple."
Well I chose to go the suggestion route and I am getting hammered for it. Oh well. Shoulda known better. :) I still like the picture though. |

I often think I have some type of color blindness. I often disagree with someone about what color something is. But this time I used that chart of purples that someone so kindly posted and put it up against my image. I only have 3 colors and 2 of them matched that chart. My one and only comment asks why my image is not purple. I give up!!

Never fear, Kelli - at least you got a comment. My Purple is running neck and neck with my Abstract Macro - both under 5 at the moment. Gotta love it! :-) |

I guess I need to study the color wheel some more :) - Apparently mine isn't the right shade of purple. This is a little disheartening ....I'm praying for a 5!!
