i just voted on them all and gotta say not one of the better bunch of entries i've seen.

I think that a lot of people in the open challenges vote any photo with crappy scores just to make their photo better in the standings. |

While that may be the case, I hope it isn't rampant. There are also some people that intentionally don't vote on challenges they enter to prevent biased voting. |

i doubt that.
but it would be interesting to calculate an average overall score of open challenges vs. member challenges.

Nah, it's just that rain is inherently a dreary subject, so it's more difficult to come up with a visually appealing photo. I would expect the Purple scores to be higher.
