I've ordered from B&H a couple of times with NO problems. I also suggest Sigma4Less for lenses. I think I've saved around $200 on 3 lenses and NO problems with shipping/tracking/etc. I also heard Adorama is pretty good. But, stay away from 17th Street Photo. I ordered a lens only to get a call 2 days later saying it's not in stock. They suggested a more expensive lens...I suggested they refund me my money, which took 2 weeks.

Use ResellersRatings to learn about an online store. Just enter the store name and check out feedback.
BHPhoto's resellers ratings page. Ordered from them multiply times, just watch out for their holiday scheduling and order early. |

All my major photo related purchases have been made from BHPhoto.com. No problems yet - even with returns (one defective socket) and all items well packed, shipped on time, and exactly as ordered. |

I have dealt with Adorama for years as well. They also give you good money for your used stuff. I justsent them some items so I can get other new toys to play with!

You will find if you look at the ratings, all of them have had a few problems, some more than others. I've bought from 17th Street and it was just fine, great prioce and very fast. BUT do go look at their ratings. |

I've had excellent results with Buydig. I purchased a Canon 30D and later returned it for an exchange (images were coming out too soft, turned out to be the lens choice) and they promptly sent me another camera two days later with no questions asked. Recently bought two lenses from them, all with no hassles. Deliveries are on-time, and they include all factory-included items with whatever you are buying(other places try to charge extra for lens hoods, etc). I'm very satisfied with this company.
If this is the first time that you're buying on-line, be sure to hang on to all of the items's packaging materials and DO NOT fill out the warranty cards. On-line sellers will not accept returns without all original packaging and BLANK warranty cards. If you do find the need to return something, be sure to read your seller's return policy...most places have a 10-14 day grace period, others as short as 7 days. |

Apparently for the camera kit i was interested the place only offers a 1 year store warranty, and no manufacturer's warranty.
Common sense tells me to beware.
Does anyone have any advice on store warranties? - or am I being paranoid? |

Unless I'm wrong, most store warranties are nothing more than an "extended warranty", much like what car dealers try to push on you (as well as the Best Buy salesman). I make it a point not to get these. If you can't get at least a 1-year manufacturer's warranty, it'd be best to probably steer clear. I've never heard of getting a store warranty and not a manufacturer's warranty...even refurbished equipment most often has some type of manufacturer warranty associated with it (unless what you're buying is used). That's another ball game, and then I'd say a store warranty may be worth it. |

I've bought lenses from B&H, Ebay, and Tuckersmom. So far, all good experiences. :) |
