has anyone ever ordered from A&M Photo World or Broadway Photo?

They seem to have good prices -- too good to be true, and I was wondering what others' experiences have been.

Dealtime.com rates the on line vendors as well as the cameras and compares prices.

Photo.net has a pretty active community which gives info on suppliers here.

A&M is apparently the same company as Broadway (according to a post there, havent researched it further) and both have a pretty bad reputation.

I tried this technique when shopping for my F707. Go to google and do a [+"Name of supplier" +review]. This should pull up examples of sites that have reviews on the supplier.

Be extremely careful of the low end price suppliers. My boss tried one (can't remember the name) and was ready to hop a plane, track them down and beat them silly. Seems the sites with the $200-$300 dollar lower prices break up camera sets and then when you buy all the pieces you need actually wind up paying more than if you bought the package from one of the more expensive (yet more reputable) dealers. Example: My boss wanted a wanted a digital camera but found that the camera didn't come with a battery or charger or storage media (even though it was supposed to be sold that way). He already had stuff that would work with the product so when he refused the "accesories" they told him the camera was "not in stock" even though the website clearly indicated "in stock". Just remember, if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.

If you find a good one with a "real" price let us know.

Thanks, that's kinda what we thought (the same company). I do want to save money when possible, but I really don't want to get burned! Thanks for the responses.

A lot of internet dealers also illegally sell gray market stuff that has no US warranty. You have to ship overseas if you need repair work. They will TELL you that it has US warranty, but you just ship it to them and they ship it overseas for you.... It's VERY difficult to get a straight answer from the dealers if you ask this question.

When you ask, make sure you ask for a camera with a US warranty registration card. Get the name of your sales person and when the camera arrives without that warranty card, make them take it back from you.

Canoga Camera in LA and B&H in New York are two of the most reliable on the net with strong pricing.

Beach Camera in New Jersey is also very good with strong pricing.

Thanks again for all of the responses. You have actually confirmed some of my suspicions of several places at this point. Maybe in a week or two, I might have made up my mind.

On the downside, then I won't be able to blame my camera anymore!

Three months ago I bought my Sony DSC F707 from dbuys on the internet. They had good reviews, and my transaction went smoothly for $824 USD plus S&H.They did, however, send me a three-filter kit instead of the polarizer I ordered.
