Dave - Glad you're coming!
Neil - You won't get lost. It's only one road from Cortland to Ithaca. If you can make it from Albany to Cortland you can surely make it from Cortland to Ithaca. ;-) hehe
I'm just burning my CO pics to disc so I can clear off some CF cards. I'm such a procrastinator!
See ya'll in the morning!

I'm glad to see you all had a great outing on the 14th. Is anyone still interested in getting together on the 28th? |

Sweet! That's three of us already and that's enough for an outing. Any thoughts on where? If you're not sick of Ithaca, there are always more places to shoot like 6-mile creek and Cascadilla gorge. There's also Watkins Glen or Fillmore Glen. I'm open to just about anything as long as it's not too far away. |

six mile creek
cascadilla
both sound good to me
I'll be coming from Homer...so anywhere I can drive in about an hour is just fine.

I'm still in for the 28th! After the 14th, I'd like to stray a bit from waterfalls to more general landscape/lakescape shots, but I'm cool with whatever the group wants.

I'll go anywhere. I'm in it as much for the social aspect as the photo ops...and I can find photo ops anywhere. |

Did you have anything in mind? We could venture up to the Finger Lakes National Forest (especially if ButterflySis joins us as she knows her way around up there -- I don't). Lot's of nice farm land and such around. Not sure what else. |

That looks like a cool place to go! Says there are mountaintop vistas, fields, forest, the whole 9 yards. I'm sure that we could find enough to interest us, even if we just drove through sections, stopping wherever we wanted.
On a side note, it's ironic that it's linked with the Green Mountain National Forest, which is in VT where I grew up!

Ah. In that case, perhaps we could save the wineries for next Spring when you can enjoy them too. We should think about where we'll be at lunch time though. |

OK, this sounds like a plan shaping up. How about we tentatively plan to got to the forest and then explore some of the wineries. I'll see if I can get some good info on where to go in the forest. If you guys want, we can meet somewhere in Ithaca early and then carpool from there. I'm happy to drive. I should be able to easily fit 6 people plus gear. Maybe we could meet at Wegmans. Does this sound plausible? |

Wegman's would be a good central spot to meet. Instead of trying to figure out where to be for lunch, maybe we could shop the Wegman's deli and pack a picnic? Happy to let you do the driving...we won't lose people that way. What do others think? |

A Wegman's picnic sounds nice to me! And it would certainly be easier to all go in one car. I assume it's a safe enough place to leave the others?
Looks like it's all coming together!

Just got in from a weekend trip to Connecticut and was wondering if anyone was still interested in shooting next weekend.
The FLNF actually borders our property. I'm pretty good with getting around up there. Mid-week last week the police had some roads closed because they were searching for a man with a gun...who they still haven't located, but I guess the roads are back open. Anyway, there are several ponds, about two very small (5-10' high) waterfalls, and that's about it. It's mostly just woods. Fun for hiking but not sure how many things to shoot especially with the leaves on the way out. As of right now I'm game for going though, if that's what you all want to do. It's a big area and will require driving to an area, walking it, and then driving to the next. Some trails would require leaving vehicles at both ends.
Edit: Depending on the weather this week some roads may be difficult for travel by car. Some get very soft and get big ruts that would require 4WD.

I have a Jeep and eqsite has a Durango, so we can go anywhere :-) Actually, we'll probably want to stick to the better roads. Maybe if we spend part of the day up there, and part at one of the other parks? Hopefully they'll have found their gunman by then...
The other thing is, I'm game for some sunrise shots over the lake, if anyone knows a good place to do that?

Well, that should add some adventure to our trip!!! I might be interested in some sunrise stuff as well if I can drag my sorry butt out of bed. Not sure where might be good for that. If you want the sun at your back, there are some nice vineyards north of Valois (up near Wagner's winery). If you want to shoot into the sun, you'll need to be on the west side of the lake so you'd probably want to do Cayuga. |

I could meet for sunrise... It's beginning to sound like Wegman's might be out of the way for meeting up...especially if we end up someplace on the west side of the lake for sunrise.
So who's going? So far it sounds like:
Butterflysis
eqsite
OdysseyF22
Kadi
and...???? |
