LOL This freaked me out - there was water splashing EVERYWHERE around him and he stayed in the water for probably 1/2 hour shooting people and dolphins.

I don't trust anyone that will jump in the water with a perfectly good camera :-)
Edit: Nevermind it's a Nikon, he's ok :-)

Well you wouldn't expect anyone to do that with a Canon, would you? :O.
Nice Hats!

He wants a new Canon so this was the best way to get his wife to agree ... an accidental water incident ;) |

I have actually had dreams about dropping a camera in water - its almost as scary to me as a house fire. NO WAY would you catch me standing in water with that much splashing with my camera. The dolphins would come by from time to time and just smack their tail against the water and SPLASHHHHHHH everything in sight! I'm way to paranoid to try that!!
I was viewing against a window (a bit later than this shot) and one of the dolphins LOVES to dowse people near the windows and got me about 6 times, but never soaked the camera - I had a small towel with me to wipe up any drops that hit it.

As long as it is a pro level camera it is weather sealed pretty well and should be fine getting splashed.
Now I would not want to drop it! |

I dropped my D70 in a river - total loss. Fortunately my warranty replaced it with a D70s though. There's not much worse you can do to a digital camera... except maybe get sand in it. |

You mean you can't get a Canon wet?????
Oh.....
Well, I have a Nikon so I ain't skeered! 8>)
Seriously, I had an A-1 for 25 years and it got wet, banged around, and generally dirty and required minimal maintainence to function just fine.
I did however run so much film through my first one that I wore it out after twenty years.

Besides the dude holding the Nikon over water -- the fact that he's holding it like a (rhymes with fork) really makes me laugh. Don't Nikonions know how to hold the cam???
Edit to demonstrate proper stance:

It looks like he might be using the focusing ring. Or flipping the dolphin the highly insulting three-finger bird. |

True, I'd let the Rebel swim for a $1500 shoot. :-)

Louis, dear.. You turn your hand the other way, then you can adjust the focus ring, the zoom ring AND support your camera... that way he's leaving the right hand to do all of the supporting, usually resulting in blur!
