so i just won this lens:
//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140069106471&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:US:1
but i just noticed that its under 35mm lenses, for digital. i thought i was browsing digital lenses. does anyone know if it will work for the D80? i sent the dude a message and he said he did not know, but to find out before i bought it. he said something about a focal length multiplyer for my D80? ahhh.... |

I have that lens on a Canon 1.6 crop and it works. Not sure if the Nikon mount is different but the 35mm full frame lenses throw a larger image circle so are normally fine on a digital so long as the mount fits.
Edit: Good price also :-)

Yeah, I snuck in there with 10 seconds left. Well, I think I will just buy it and hope it fits. If it doesnt I could alwyas just re-sell it and keep the filters :D |

The Nikon mount hasn't changed in quite a while, so lenses originally designed for film bodies will mount no problem (there will just be a 1.6x crop factor, as robs mentioned, because the digital sensor is smaller than 35mm). With some older lenses you loose exposure metering, but I think that's only really old ones. From what I hear, the D40 requires AF-S lenses to utilize autofocus because it doesn't have a built in motor due to it's small size, but I believe it's the only Nikon body that has that issue. |

Yes, it will fit. Nikon mount is the same for film and digital.
The only thing you have to find out is if it will meter correctly. |
