Happy New Year everyone!

I've climbed up to 4.5 in Pattern 2, possibly good for the upper 90%. I'm hoping my fences entry gets a little closer to the middle of the pack.

Free Study 5.9524 - the standard is high there, as you might expect.

AA Battery 4.5887

Harsh Environment 5.0414 - couple of (seem to me) dumb comments, but maybe they didn't 'get' something and communication works two ways. It's a flawed entry, for sure.

But right now I just entered my 50th challenge in central composition - step aside.

double + cool Post going postal in a harsh environment...

Happy new year, Bon an, Godt nyttår.

Hey, congrats! I've been entering there for each of the last couple of months, but no luck so far.

As for my free study, it's dropped some, but still aiming at personal best:

My free study score is climbing, which is unusual - in my experience this is about the time is goes into freefall. Definitely looking at my personal best if it holds.

On a different note, I just saw that the DPC site is about back to normal speed. Was soooooo sluggish this afternoon.

I suggest you start that Team Abstract you were talking about and bring the whole team into Team Suck. I thought it was a great idea for a team.

Wooo hooo! I just got a favorite in Twelve Days challenge! It's been awhile, so I'm stoked about that.

Looks like there are going to be some good scores from our team this time- Jeff with that 6.7 something in Free Study, Don with a 6.2 or so in Harsh, Raish hovering around the 6.0 mark in Free Study, and lots of scores in the mid fives.

Way to go, Team Suck!

6.2..Way to go. What does it feel like?

My free study is sucking bad at 4.9. My Pattern is at 5.8325 which is my highest score yet. I'm happy with that. I have a shot in for Centerd which I absolutely love. Of course, you know what that means.

By the way Catherine, the site was beyond sluggish this afternoon. It was almost dead!

My Fireworks shots were all wobbly so no entry there for me.

The good news is my first photo was posted on my PAW on the 1st as promised, I'm pretty excited about that.

Enter the one that will score high and put the other one in your portfolio. You can even let it be one of the selected shots shown from your portfolio in your profile.

I've chosen one shot from each of several collections for my profile, so people can see the variety of things I've done and then explore those collections more if they're interested.

Chris, you've got some entries on that graph in the 90% area. Sorry, don't think you suck. :-)

Oh, and by the way, sickdog I nearly spit up my coffee laughing when I saw your comment regarding the family estate.

Fellow Suckees:
I'd be interested to hear everyone's goals for 2007. Both DPC-related and otherwise. I'll start since I'm posting this topic~

DPC / Photography
Score above 6.0
Score above 6.5 (we'll stop right there for now)
Yappie award
Learn to use curves in PS
Learn long exposure
Jury into weekly street market in Charleston

Otherwise
Write novel

Write novel

Not too ambitious... :-) Seriously, if you do write a novel, I'll buy a copy and not only that, mail it to you for signature! Same holds for our fearless leader, whom I think is also in the novel-writing business.

DPC goals:
- Don't get down because I can't score here. I do tend to let it depress me from time to time and isn't that just silly?
- Comment more.
- Get one picture ahead of the baby birds on my top line.
- Sell a print (to Jutilda, who asked for it, now I just need to get it in the system.)
- Quit shoe-horning entries. Ummm. OK, maybe not. It's kinda fun to do that once in awhile. :-)

Other:
- Learn to speak passable German, at least enough to shop the local markets and converse briefly with the neighbors; learn to understand German to the extent I can semi-eavesdrop on conversations.
- Get out and see as much of Europe as possible.
- Get back on my bike, or given that I'm a wimp and it's kalt here, start going to spin classes to keep from becoming a complete computer-potato.
- Get DSL or satellite, so I can comment and vote on pictures. Just ain't all that possible at 3K/s on dialup. :-)

Mel - Another alternative may be to get a mobile phone contract that allows 3G. The browsing speed can be pretty good, and, if you get a good data contract it may not need to cost too much.

I'll look into that. The English-speaking subcontractor of Telekom has until the end of this week to tell me whether or not they're going to install DSL, then I'm cancelling that contract. Does the mobile alternative use a satellite or just the mobile?

1) Get out of bed earlier and take my camera with me.

2) Pass the history of photography spring semester course.

3) Submit more OOB photographs without regard for scores.

4) Try more street photography.

5) Convert more photographs to black and white.

6) Have a photograph be mistaken for one by ursula or xion.

7) Have a quirky photograph that posthumous writes a poem for.

8) Go to photo exhibits in New York 2-3 times this year.
