Well, that explains all those portfolio pics of you wearing nothing but an apron ;-)

In the near future, we will be starting a round of interviews of our beloved suck league teammates. If you want to read some of the previous interviews check this thread.

Our victims interviewees will be picked at random and interviewed by private message.

If you have a suggested question that would help us better understand the suck psyche, let me know.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program. I've about veggied/fruit'd myself out - even bought stuff I normally don't eat. But I WILL have an entry. I figure it's good for about a 5.3. Who else is in?

Deb you inspired me. after reading your comment i made a trip into town and bought fruits and veggies. some i dont even know what they are let alone eat them.
and now after several hrs and lots of help from my wife i entered a shot.
doubt that it scores well but i like it. i am guessing it will get around a 4.8 .
But at least i entered thanks to your comment. hope you entry does well.

Hi!
Well, I am game - I will start working on my initiation assignment right away. I'm kinda excited about this.... In the spirit of "oh wow!" I was going to do the poem for each Free Study entry, and then I thought...Whoa, Max!!! That would be overachieving, doncha think? AND, a lot of work. So I'll work on my "Why I should be a Team SUCK member" poem, and will report back soon. Thanks for the opportunity. :-)

As for Lacey - I gotta tell you - it was a great year for her, and a very special year for us. She was a sweetheart. When we adopted her, that made 6 dogs, one cat, and a pot belly pig. And she fit right in. All our animals are rescues of one sort or another - I entered a photo of Buddy, another rescued GR, in the GOOD challenge. Got him from the Humane Society when he was 2 - he's 10 or 11 now. He has bitten every one of us at least once. He has issues. But...so do we.

Thanks again - looking forward-
Max

Reminds me of the dog we had for the longest while I was growing up. He'd probably been abused before we got him. I like your outlook!

Moving on to the subject of fruits and veggies, I shot and rejected 2 concepts, thought about shooting and rejected in my mind at least another 5 or 6.

Finally was poking around DPC food shots and got inspired at 11:44. Wham! Run around like a madman to pull together the items I needed. Two shots, slam the card into the computer, fire up Photoshop (and open a DPC entry window while waiting for it to open), two quick adjustments, save, think up an incredible, awe-inspiring title that will leave people in tears it's so rich in emotion, upload.

Phew!

Now sitting at 5.13 after 15 votes.

Now trying to remember why I bothered ...

YAY! Glad I talked you into it. And with 16 votes, I'm quite happy to report that I have a .... wait for it..... 5.3!!! :-)

Problem being i need to get a shot done before Friday and uploaded as i am off to the UK for my mums 50th and my 33rd. We share our birthday and the family have set up a big party.

Good luck to all. :-)

Happy birthday to you and your mum! That's a neat thing, to share a birthday.

I'm really looking forward to the next challenge as well - both shooting for it and seeing what gets submitted. Should be a very enjoyable challenge for voting.

Very nice!! I had my predicted 5.3 going until the Rook-man got me with his DNMC and the 1 vote. It'll come back up, I hope. Right now at 5.2, so there's hope!

I got that one too! I wonder if he hit everyone? LOL. So I'm currently at a 4.8.

That's cool. I have a portfolio section called "Cedar Point" where I took some coaster pictures. I love that kind of stuff.

Nice shots! Mine is El Toro, a wooden coaster with a 76 degree record-breaking first drop. In that picture they were still building it. I love riding any kind of coaster and this one is awesome and well worth the wait if you're ever in the area.

For the people that are wondering how I did the Personification shot, which really surprises me, it's just a picture of a door in my house. There was no mirror or anything. That design is actually in the grain of the door. I took a picture of the door as it exists, adjusted the perspective and cropped.

You can tell by the comments that many people just didn't see the design and I was punished accordingly.

I tried to add a comment to mine (just now) but got a weird error. The problem I seem to have (I think) with the sharpness on this (or funky focus) is when I saved to web, in order to get it under the 150 file size, I had to reduce the quality to something like 60%. I never used to have this problem when I had a 3mp camera, lol. I didn't use any NI or any type of noise reduction on it and this happens a lot. What's the lowest quality you can go and still get a decent shot in? It was shot in macro mode, with very little cropping.

That's okay.....we see it and it is definitely a shot that the three second voter will NOT see.

I'm getting to a point where I'm going to start being more careful what I shoot for a challenge simply because I don't need to try and stretch something that works only if you mull it over.

I'm going to experiment, and if I feel the need to explain it at all, I won't enter it in a challenge, I'll enter it in one of the side projects that seem to be a lot more amenable to descriptions and experimentation without punishment as the results.

Congratulations! Hope it continues to go up.

I have crawled up to a 5.08 from 4.9. It's not the best shot, but I like it. I haven't started to vote on it yet. (My Bad shot is at 4.9 and has been for awhile, so I think that is where it is going to stay.)

Good job, I hope that 6 stays for you.

Personally I'd try to keep quality in the high 80s or 90s. I think you could probably go down to about 70 though before seeing any degradation.

Of course you sometimes have to re-size smaller.
