Well the PM Cindi referred to was from me. Crystal and I will not be able to make it. late last week I was informed that I am being transfered to Jackson, Ms. I start there on April 2nd. She wasn't able to mention who it was from because I couldn't tell my employees yet and one is a member here(although I don't think she reads the forms) Sorry I won't be able to meet you guys:(

Well, I guess that's both good news and bad news. I'm assuming that this is a promotion? Sorry we'll miss you at the GTG, but good luck in the new position!

Lateral move:/

it is however only an hour and 45 minutes from my 15 year old son (we are over 12 hours from him now) so that is a very good thing. Also we live in a VERY small town now so this will be nice to get to a much larger city. WE lived in Tampa before this so this town was kinda culture shock.

You and Crystal will be missed, Elvis. I was really looking forward to shooting with you guys. Sure you can't do a quickie GTG before you go? C'mon, I only live 2 hours from you! :)

Just checking in... looks like our trip to Florida won't coincide with the GTG after all. :-(

We're heading to Jacksonville for a long weekend from 4/20 to 4/22. I guess you can take my name off the list. Sorry for the late notice, I only found out myself yesterday.

That's too bad, Lee. You'll be missed! But.... be sure to let me know when you guys are in town, remember I live here! So does Sam Nobody

I spent the afternoon in the Old City today. Tourists are just starting to return and the place was hopping, but not crowded. Lovely day at the beaches. :)

Just saw this. That would have been nice but since we are/were too lazy to keep this house beautiful and running smoothly while living in it, We(and by this i mean I..lol) have to spend every waking hour getting everything fixed and clean to try and help sell it faster. :(
I was looking forward to it. St. Augustine is absolutely amazing. I love that area. My daughter is the most crushed. she really wanted to see the beach on Easter. now she won't even have her dad around on Easter(he's going by himself and living in a hotel and we'll be here until he finds a place there). I'd love to come by myself but two kids in a hotel is a tall order. I hope you guys have a blast.

I'm up from hopeful to highly probable. One more hurdle to clear before I can confirm for at least part of Saturday.

Hi All, What's going on, and who is still in? And when is it?
Reading thru all the thread is giving me a headache with all the ins and outs and changes. Anyone have a condensed version of the current status of the whole affair?
The part of harvest season that requires the most refrigeration is just beginning now in my area, so I have to stay nearby and baby sit the warehouse coolers that I maintain, so I can't be there except in spirit. : ( Also, the $ 25 offer still stands if anyone is in need.

Hi everyone! It has been a long time since I've logged into DPC, but am glad I did tonight.

I don't think I can catch up with anyone during your GTG, but maybe after it. I will already be in St. Augustine during that time, but will be with Charles Glatzer's "Shoot The Light" workshop, at the Alligator Farm, from April 6th - 9th. Then from April 12th - 14th, I'll be in a couple of classes at the Birding Festival. So, I'll be in area from April 5th and leaving April 15th.

Which is reason for my post! :)

For those that want to go to Alligator Farm, if you want to get there early, before the crowds & catch the sweet light, then you may want to think about getting their Photo Pass. It is yearly pass, but allows photographers to get in at 8 AM, instead of 9 AM. Also you can ask about staying after it closes too! I know there is small fee to pay for that (it goes to the employee who has to stay late), but it is worth it! :)

Alligator Farm - Annual Passes

Here is also some more info, straight from Photo Pass section:

Originally posted by Alligator Farm:

-- EARLY ENTRY IS FOR THE ROOKERY ONLY. THE REST OF THE PARK IS NOT OPEN UNTIL 9:00am.

-- TO ENTER THE PARK EARLY (AROUND 8:00AM) YOU MUST HAVE A VALID PHOTO PASS WITH ID. IF YOU HAVE NOT YET PURCHASED A PASS, YOU MAY ENTER EARLY BY GIVING A CREDIT CARD TO THE ALLIGATOR FARM EMPLOYEE. THE CREDIT CARD WILL BE CHARGED $59.95 FOR A PHOTO PASS. YOU MAY PICK UP YOUR PASS AND CARD IN THE GIFT SHOP AFTER 9:00am.

-- AN ALLIGATOR FARM EMPLOYEE WILL BE AT THE RED GATE AT 8:00am (OR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AFTER 8:00am) TO CHECK PASSES AND ID̢۪S AND ALLOW YOU ENTRY INTO THE PARK.

-- IF YOU ARE RUNNING LATE AND HAVE MISSED EARLY ENTRY, YOU MAY POLITELY ASK ALLIGATOR FARM EMPLOYEES ABOUT THE POSSIBLITY OF ENTRY BEFORE 9:00am IF THEY ARE NEAR THE GATE. YOU MAY NOT HOWEVER, ENTER THROUGH ANY OTHER GATES. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 9:00am AND ENTER THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR.

-- MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED WHEN YOU ENTER THE PARK. YOU MAY NOT RETURN TO YOUR VEHICLE UNTIL THE REST OF THE PARK IS OPEN.

-- PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THE ALLIGATOR FARM STAFF STILL HAS WORK TO DO IN THE ROOKERY. THEY WILL NEED TO HOSE THE BOARDWALK AND USE THE BLOWERS TO CLEAR LEAVES, ETC. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU GIVE THEM ROOM TO WORK.

So, I hope to be able to at least meet a few of you while there, if not, have a great time! I'll be staying at the Sleep Inn.

If anyone wants to give me a shout, Cell: 863-835-2137 (it's listed on my website, so posting it here can't be any worse).

I can't seem to be able to wait until this weekend for this GTG. I was thinking about actually leaving for it tomorrow with my mountain bike and kayak in the car.

My tentative plan was to meander around the state for a couple of days and end up in St. Augustine on Friday night. But I just found out that my dog sitter has one dog too many until Wednesday morning, so I'll have to wait until then to start my meandering.

I want to go now!

i'll be around some, but don't know how long. due to an unforseen circumstance, we may not be leaving richmond until after dinner fri, putting us down to st aug hopefully by lunch sat...then to have to take off for tampa by dinner...uhg. well, at least i'll still have weds-sat the following week.

I'm so excited I could scream! :D

I update the original thread with this:
We will be meeting on Saturday, 7th at 9am at Castillo de San Marco in the heart of Old St. Augustine. The plan for Saturday is fluid at the moment, I figured we would head out of the Castillo when everyone begins to get bored and find some great spot for lunch (I have a couple of places in mind, you guys like Mexican food? or would you prefer seafood?) We can always decide later. After lunch we can hit the Gator Farm if everyone agrees.

Re: The Aligator Farm, I have a photographers pass, if anyone else wants to get one on Saturday, then we can meet there at 7:45 on Sunday and get in before the public is allowed in. (But... if your not there AT 8:00 then you have to wait until 9:00 when the public is allowed in, the special door for early people only opens once.)

As for Sunday, I thought we could spend some time around the beaches. There are a couple National parks in the area too if anyone cares to visit them. I'm game for anything, but I think its best if our schedule isn't too regimented so we can feel free to 'wander' at will! :D

Anyone agree / disagree with this plan.... have other suggestions.... hate me for being so vague? ;)

I'm packing the car now and I'll be leaving in about two hours. I'm going to take the scenic route on the way to St. Augustine, stop by some springs, kayak a little, bike a little, visit another DPC'er along the way, and end up in St. Augustine on Friday night.

I'll see you all Friday night or Saturday morning.
