The truly anal retentive among us dwell upon their update buttons and input the data into a spreadsheet which shows what the score just received was using not especially fancy math. If you ask, someone will offer up a copy of one of those spreadsheets, most likely.

OK, and here I was looking all over the dpc site for some area where I was able to see this.

Monique

Unless I am mistaken (and I often am) Real time updates are only available for full members of DPC, non paying members have the one hourly update only

I have been a full paying member as of the beginning of this week. I have just done the spreadsheet thingy and it works, someone just gave me a 5.

The benefit is you get to enter more challenges. Some of the ones I like are for paying members only. Thought it was worth it.

How can I drop from 6.1667 down to 6.1591 and my vote didn't go up by one. Both said 132 votes? Is there something I am not factoring in??

Adjustments. No vote, just a shift. Many people vote by placing images in blocks (3,5,7 for example) then come back and adjust at the end.
Edit to add - looking at the numbers you posted you went from a total point accumulation of 814 to 813. Someone bumped a vote down by 1.

This is what I do....I vote 4 - 5 - 6 then I go back through and fine tune my votes.

03/30/2007 09:37:46 AM · #115
So this spreadsheet doesn't work if people go back and change the scores. Or do I go and change the av on the last one??

Ah this is a great tip - have just placed an order for 3 crates!!!!

Score for Spinning and Pop Culture both at 5.58... Will take a few pills and head straight on out this weekend with my camera to search for some Contre-Jour images....

ah, so much for that :P

3 comments and hanging in the 4.9-5.0something range. really missed the connection on this one. too bad, cause it really is a killer shot, just not right for the challenge. oh well, NEXT!
03/30/2007 11:50:51 AM · #119
Mine was a killer shot, too, but it is sitting around 4.9. I only have 1 comment, and that one said it had rated me an 8. Well, I guess that is the only vote above 7. Anyway, on to the next. I am finally over my "mistakes" on this one. Have gone through it now that the challenge is started, and have come up with ways to improve it. Too bad we couldn't have two weeks to work on a shot. My best refinements come the night after the challenge voting begins. I need more time to get it right.

That's an interesting idea... in a thread after the challenge is over, we could "improve" our shots based on advice received during and after the challenge. Though to be fair, in my case, it would usually require a re-shoot and another subject entirely... :-) But it could be a useful learning experience!

Take Two :D

Yeah, as a challenge, g2b, but I was thinking just a thread, where participants can get advice and help as opposed to a Take Two challenge kinda thing. I don't think scores are necessary.

Cool. Does sound like fun. :)

ETA - I better help in bringing this back to scores since I've contributed to veering a bit. :P

Voting seems to have slowed down. Is it normal to have a lull in voting at this stage? Still a few days to go yet.

yes.
