Day 8
Day 9
Me and one of my cats. Cassie is now almost 16 years old. We got her when our son was about 2. Cassie likes to lick people, in particular our son. We have often sent her in to get him up in the morning. She will just lick him until he gets up. |

Louis has been so creative with his studio lighting during this project so far, I thought I'd try and give him a run for his money!

Day9 : The perfect dunk - John K., knows everything technical - what could go wrong with your operating system, putting the best audio system for your car to fixing an ipod. He is a geek, he is a basketball player who can dunk, he is a guy who can drill holes with the most precision...

Rachel is very pretty. I would like to see her more expressive and more casual...can't tell her personality from this picture.

This is another from my shoot with Rachel on Friday. With the GTG over the weekend I'm only just getting around to processing these. This one was accidently overexposed so I processed to make the most of it. :) |

He sure doesn't look like a geek :) This is a very cool picture of him. I love your sepia processing. |

Day 12 - Ian, Chatsworth House Groundsman
This is Ian, another total stranger, wearing a great hat.
What I learned today is this. If you act like a pro photographer then people will think you are a pro photographer. I have a grey jacket from Tesco's which really looks the part and grey walking trousers with loads of pockets. These help. So does my supercool Manfrotto backpack. But best of all is my monopod which I carry everywhere. People have never seen one before and it gets loads of looks.
I got mistook for a pro photographer in the carpark by a guy who turned out to be a real proper pro. Plus I was aware that Ian, the guy in the picture was sizing me up for ages (see picture below) and really wanted to be asked to pose, so I asked and he was happy to be moved about till I got the shot I wanted.
Thanks for all the nice comments - I'm off to do a big round of commenting now.

Another great environmental portrait from you Vikas. Would you mind sharing your basic set-up and workflow? I am amazed by the clarity and quality of your images, apart from the wonderful vision you have. |
Thanks Valdo!
Just a very basic setup - Most of the shots here are using the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens. Post processing involves
Crop
Channel Mixer in Monochrome (sometimes I run the action Dragonizer before CM)
Duotone (I seem to like the Pantone 1205C - have been using that for all the shots here)
Resize
USM
Save for web.
