CD's are soooooooooo last year. This year it's all about DVDs and (2) 2 Gb cards or a 4 Gb card will fit on 1 DVD. ;)

To be honest if you're concerned about best value and don't care if your card is big you might as well just get one of these when they come back in stock. Even at $30 for a 2GB card, its almost the same price per GB. Its also an Extreem III, although I have no idea what its performance is like. |

I usually have a Sandisk Ultra II 4 gig as my primary card, but carry 2 other 4Gb no-name cards and then a 4Gb microdrive.
The microdrive is the only one which has ever let me down. |

I don't use any card larger than 512. Admittedly I don't shoot in RAW so maybe stick to 1 gig cards. |
You must have cheap cards or being doing something wrong. I've never had a card corrupt - 30,000+ images on 4 cameras over teh past 3-4 years. (sandisk and kingston cards).
I asked the teacher at my last school about that and she had an issue one time with one card - and she shoots 4000+ JPGs at a wedding and lots of weddings, flys with the cards, etc. That's a LOT more use than i'll ever give a card.
I figured we both shot Canon and since most of the problems I hear about corrupt cards comes from from Nikon shooters.

I shoot RAW only and have 3 Sandisk Ultra 2 2Gb and 3 Kingston Elite 2Gb and a 1Gb. Never had a problem with any of them. I erase in teh camera and rarely format them, use a card reader to transfer to the computer but never write or erase them from the computer.
I get about 200-220 images on a card and that works well for weddings for me. I might have gotten larger cards but the 2Gb were the most Gb for the money at the time, and I got 3 kingston for the cost of 2 sandisk.

I have a Sandisk and a Lexar. Both are 256Mb. If I shoot Raw I can't get that many onto these, maybe 30 and it takes a minute to process them onto the card. I need bigger and better. I usually shoot JPG Large. Not familiar with RAW concept to its fullest extent yet. |

"And I've had cards corrupt (more than once even though I format before each use) :-("
Is it normal to format a card before each use? I just delete all the photos. What does everyone do and why? Also when doing shoots where I know that I am taking approx. 500 photos I take my laptop and when the card is full I put a new card into the camera and load all the photos taken onto the laptop and empty the card ready for use.
Edit:quotation marks.

I only use a card reader and when putting the images onto my computer, I just move the images off the card to the computer (select the images directories, hold shift and drag them to my repository). That leaves the card empty and I am ready to go again. I have done this on 3 different cameras and over about 12,000 photos with no problems. |

My Nikon Manual said to format before each use. What can I say, I'm a sheep. |

I do the same, except I don't erase them from the card until I've burned the files to CD as well as copying them to the hard drive. When I do that, I just drag them to the Trash/Recycle Bin -- I use the same cards and reader with both a PC desktop and a Mac laptop with no problems. |

2x 2Gig standard CF + 1Gig Hitachi MD + 340Md IBM MD.
Never format. The only thing that screws up the amount of images on a card is the failing top LCD on my D70.

I've never formatted a card in more than 15,000 shots and two cameras. Is it really important :S |

I have a 2GB Extreme III and sometimes I'm annoyed by the time it takes to save the pics. So the faster the better, I am not very patient you see. |
