I'll second Kelli's nomination for

The new policy for nominations is that they are always open for business. Come here and nominate for OOBIE or YAPPIE the moment you see excellence happening.

Anyone can nominate anyone at any time, with only one exception: you can NOT nominate yourself (it is so depressing that I have to say that).

I'll start:

is out of every box I can think of, but is simply stunning. This is exactly the sort of brilliance that will never be rewarded at DPC without Team Suck's diligence and devotion to beauty. I nominate for OOBIE.

I nominate purpleflutterby13 for a Yappie. This is kind of unusual to nominate someone for Critique Club critiques, but she has been out-critiquing the rest of the club recently and she gives thoughtful critiques that talk about a lot more than just what will score well on DPC.

I second this nomination as this is a very Out Of The Box image but a very very good take on the challenge, I also nominate posthumous for the Yappie award as he has commented on MANY of my shots before and after my joining team suck and has always been honest and helpful with said comments. Thanks for the help.

ETA...Opps, Xianart Beat me to it, okay I third that nomination then, lol.

Just to clear up any potential confusion: while it is true that I have a Lifetime Yappie award, I still like to be nominated now and then. :)

thanks, jack!

I nominate this shot by vtruan for the OOBIE:

It's almost abstract, with just enough reality to tell you what you're looking at.

Yep, yep, and yep.

I'd like to nominate roz for a Yappie as well. She leaves long, detailed comments about how a picture affects her, what she likes about it, and what, if anything, she'd change - and she leaves lots and lots of them. She's also an outstanding and enthusiastic participant in some of the 30 day side challenges, sharing both generous comments as well as her post processing steps. And she's got cool stuff in her portfolio AND she went to visit Shez in the hospital.

Yep, you're allowed to do that.

OOBIE and YAPPIE nominations (and seconds) are open to all!

Wow, I feel all appreciated :) Thanks very much! This is so the nicest thing I've heard all week.

(note to self: carry on yapping with increased frequency)

Ok how do I participate in this? Posthumous gave out a secret assignment to make nominations. It looks like some have already been thru a round of second noms. Do I wait until the next round? It's late, i am tired, and my brain hurts. Simple answes are appreciated!

No need to wait, just nom. someone that you think has an out of the box shot that is underappreciated and someone that makes lots of good comments on shots!!! Pick someone already nominated or someone new, your decision, have fun!!

Of course later is fine as well...we don't want to promote brain drain on an already overworked one...:)

I have two OOBIE suggestions - not sure if these would fall into the category or not. But I thought they were both interesting and made you stop and think for a moment. These are from the "CHAINS" challenge.

I liked the artistry and the symbolism. It makes you think: Is it a photo? Is it art?

I thought this was gorgeous and was surprised it did not score higher.

Agh, you got there before me! I was gonna nominate:

I suppose I second the nomination instead... (and I shall go forth with my secret mission and find another image)

OOBIE nomination:

It's definitely out of the box. For a justifying argument on why it's interesting, see the comments section :)

Oh, and I don't know if this has been done yet, but if not, I nominate raish for a YAPPIE, for having commented on each of the 564 images in the Free Study, then having gone back again and changed every single comment. And the first lot of comments and people's reactions to them made me laugh :)
04/20/2007 12:02:01 PM · #196
re: raish

Right then, joke's on me as I now have to plough through 564 images and bump them all (yes, all of them) up. There'll be a third run through for fine tuning.

yeah great comment...:)

I think I commented on less than half - I was all out of yap...

(ETA - apart from the cut and pasted thingy above, of course...)

I've nominated roz but I'll also second pineapple - he's a very thoughtful commenter indeed.
