Its a good thing that I never got seasick. Those ships were made of wood and fiberglass so they wouldnt set off the mines. But with a wood boat it got tossed around in the smallest of waves and only had a crew of around 85.

I was an Army Brat for 18 years and retired from the Marine Corps in 2000. Was stationed on Mount Fuji for 4 months. Wish I had a good camera then.

My son is a US Marine in Afghanistan. He just turned 19, and just found out he will be there for yet another four months.

I'm in the Royal Australian Air Force.
Joined in 1986 and still going strong. Currently work in an F/A-18 Squadron.

US Army Active duty May 1996 to May 2003. US Army Rerves May 2003 to ???

I served in the Royal Air Force from 1969-1979. Stationed England (69-71) and in Cyprus (71-73), Scotland (73-76) and 2 years in Northern Ireland (76-78) then back to England to end.

I'm active duty Navy. Currently stationed in the Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland but I'm being transfered to Naples, Italy in September. I was in the Persian Gulf for Iraqui Freedom serving as a Hospital Corpsman on board the hospital ship USNS Comfort.

I know this is not the question that was asked, but I am very proud of my father who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor in Korea in 1953.

I was in the Air Force between 1976 and 1980. I was an 81150, air base ground defence.

My good Canadian friend, Jacques "Jacko" Doucette suggested join in this forum.
My service was United States Navy in WWll in the Pacific. My ship was a destroyer, USS Morris DD417, which was badly damaged by a Japanese kamikaze suicide attack on 06 April 1945 off Okinawa. After release from the Naval hospital I ended the war with the ship in drydock in San Francisco, California.

I served (conscript) in romania from sept 1987 to jan 1989 as a scout. lucky to finish before 1989 "revolution" my commanding officer was killed "in action"

I was An Aviation Electricians Mate on the A-6e Intruder with Attack Squadron 65 out of Oceana Naval Air station In Virginia Beach.

Just an army brat here my dad served for about 5 years I was born in Nernburg Germany 1975! My dad has an old newspaper clip from WW2 of my great Grandpa and my grandpa I think served in France (Midcap)

WOW, thank you for your service John. Not alot of WWII vets frequent any chat pages I go to. Great photos also.

445th Security Forces, Wright-Patterson AFB. I'm reserve right now, but I'm moving to Spokane in August, so I'll be transferring to Fairchild. Huah to the ABGD - that's what we do now, along with the other SP/cop stuff.

I was in the Army from 1986-1992, served in the first Desert Shield/Storm conflict with the 512th MI, part of the 24th ID. Sure was a lot different from this iteration.

I did 5 years in the Army and was glad to serve. Now I am trying to take maximum advantage of my exit benefits and earn a degree. Army was easier, LOL.

I was in the Army, First Cav and sent to Viet Nam 69-70. A little over a year there. Was awarded a Bronze Star. And am proud of all our servicemen and woman who serve or have served. God Bless you.
