Hi everyone,
I haven't had time to post anything in forever (luckily business is good and family great), but I have been following all of your beautiful work as always!
I am posting here because I have a book credit that I have to use by the end of July or it will expire, and so I decided to fill it with all of my favorites around the internet; funny emails, cute pics, crazy pics, etc. WEll, the bulk of my favorite things are found right here, and I am asking permission to use individual pictures for personal use, in 1 publication that will be on my coffee table, and viewed by family and friends. I had planned on having the photographers name on each photo, and this would not be sold or used for profit.
Do you all feel like this is ok to ask for? I would essentially just be looking at DPC in a book instead of on my screen, and as I said, would not be profiting off of your work, except by really enjoying this book.
Please let me know your thoughts on this--I do not want to violate any rights.
Thanks, and love love love this amazing place.

It sounds ok to me, personally. Not a problem with myi mages, as long as you ask for and receive written permission from me for the images in question and the specific usage.

I think you should PM the members who's work you'd like to include.

It might be time consuming, but the best approach would probably be a short pm to the photographer about the specific picture you want. You could include your opening post in the pm, just to make it clear what you want.
I only suggest that as an alternative, because not everyone reads the forums. |

Well if you like any of mine you are certainly welcome to use them. And if you do use any of mine I'd love to have a copy of it for my coffee table too. That would be cool. I would pay whatever the cost to print it is. |

I agree with Wonderbread, but also I have one question, since the images that are saved here on DPC are normally lo res saved for web images, do you think they will really look very good in printed form?
I ask, only because there are a couple of my images that I screwed up when saving and lost the original RAW file (yes, I know, dumb) and when I tried to print the ones from DPC the quality was horrible. I don't have a great deal of expertise when it comes to printing, but I was just wondering... |

I think it is a great idea. Not that you would want any of my images but I think the idea is a great one. They should make a yearly "Best of DPC" book. That is something I would buy.

You leave no hints of what your favorites are by looking at what you've marked on this site in the 1 1/2 years you've been here. Zero, zip, nadda... ??? |

Spunds Ok to me if you have any interest in my images....I do ask that you PM me and let me know which one or ones you like, If any. I could possibly send you a larger file as well. Great Idea though! |

What an awesome idea - to have the best of dpc 200..... I love it, and will do that in December. Blues only, or should we have a vote of favorties off of all of the challenges?
Most of this book is goofy stuff that came in an email, but as for the pics from here, they save at the same resolution they are posted at, and most of them resize nicely. I have never used them for anything other than a background on my computer....but they are crystal clear. So far, the images I want to use in the book are from the recent Where's Waldo? My kids have a ton of fun with those.
I would post the page files, but the preview fils are low res PDF so they can be sent, etc. The book is almost done and I'm really excited. |

Re: glad2badad's post about not leaving any hints--I look at every challenge result from my email, but have been too busy with work to have time to play here, or even update my own stuff. |
