I drove 1987 f150 for 15 years. I purchase in 1992 to 2007 and still on the road with another owner. In January 2007 I purchase a XLT 1996 f150 4X2 for $500 and put almost $500 to get up to spec. I believe car is not an investment just a tranportation for a to b.

Really? Do you have to have someone else's name on it too? So can a 16 year old go to a dealership and buy a car by him/herself?

In Minnesota, you have to be 18 to buy a car and have it in your name.

Yes, they just ask what name you want on the title, no ID required. I graduated from High School In Minn. and the laws there have changed since then as well (1981) I had my first car (1968 Pontiac Tempest) in my name at 17.

Built in 1997, now with 160,000 miles and the darn thing rattles but keeps on going and won't die!
Takes the family (2 human + 2 canine) where ever we need to go!
Montero in the US, Pajero in Europe...

We've had it for over 10 years now and we keep making memories with it... and I don't cry if I put a scratch in it anymore!

(on the right, not the yellow one on the left)

Cheers!

1998 Ford Mustang, here. My first one was a cute 81 or 83 Mazda RX7. Something to be said for learning to drive in a stick!

At 16, you can have legal ownership of an item, including a car. However, you cannot legally enter a contract until age 18.

ROFL!

What you have to understand is that after three decade of living with my resurrection complx (Why buy a perfectly good car when I can breathe life back into something that makes no sense to redo?) this is the first time that I could just take a picture instead of dragging it home to suck up all my spare time and money.

I love this truck!

On my wall in a frame.....right above this computer!

I just ran a "What If" through our loan software...

If you put $1000 down (most lenders require 10%, and I rounded up to an even number to reduce your theoretical principal amount), then a $7700 loan at 8% (typical rate) spread over 12 months is $669.90 per month. With no downpayment, that figure goes up to $756.90 monthly. If you manage 20% down, the payment goes down to $606.52. The loan fees will probably run about $150-$200, payable up front, on top of the 10% downpayment.

I don't know how it is in Canada, but around here that's more than most people pay for rent.

Get a two year loan and put $1000 down, your payments will be about $348.32, $314.84 with 20%, and $393.55 with zero down.

Neither sounds like anything to handle on a part-time wage, frankly. I would vie for a three year amortization. That gets your payments anywhere from $218.15-$272.68 monthly. Before gas, insurance, and maintenance, remember.

I`m doing the finance through my girlfriends dad on the side and i just pay him when whenever at 0%

Oh, so he's buying you the car.

He imports cars from Japan, so its from Japan, he buys them then sells them for way more here, so he already bought this one and is selling it to me for less than what he paid for it.

Unless you have a finance agreement ON PAPER with payment terms that will be enforced, your girlfriend's daddy is buying you a car.

It's a nice gesture, but you really aren't buying the car, he is.

i don't understand :S... he already has bought the car, he owns the car. and he'll be selling it to me

Not really.

Unless you have a finance agreement, you aren't really buying the car. He's giving it to you.

Paying him back "whatever, whenever at 0%" is NOT a purchase agreement.

I bought a used MINI Cooper S about three weeks ago. Looks almost exactly like this one.

A blast to drive and a breeze to park!

Currently a 2003 Windstar Minivan, and I like it (flashbacks to the 70s when I grew up and custom vans were the 'in' thing). I works for me as I work from home with 2 kids and my photography biz.

My wife has my car actually - 04 taurus. She drives to work (i walk) and it gets 26mpg vs the van's 18. She prefers the fan (actually she prefers a BARD - Big Ass Red Truck)

Our toy, for sale so she can get a BARD, is a 90 Wrangler, with lots of mods and such, but it's engine isn't feeling well and the gas mileage sucks (11 on a good day, 8 on a bad day)

Here is a picture of the Jeep with Caitlin, Caitlin, Caitlin, Caitlin, Caitlin, Caitlin, Caitlin, and Caitlin.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with what causes engine knock, but newer cars can adjust their timing to accomodate for the change. What year BMW's did you have by chance? A far as I know most, if not all, use premium gas and have since at least 1999.

it still different with different cars in the 3 series.. there were still a few different engines used in the 3 series. It all depends if its an e30,e36 etc...

my 330i was MY 2006, my 328xi is a MY 2007.
Just in case you're wondering, I'm working for BMW. Not an engineer though, so no technical questions, please.

mostly a 2006 Quintana Roo Caliente

That's what's seen the most miles this year anyway. If I lived closer to the factory, I'd have a TVR Griffith 500 for fun.

How can you have OnStar, a GM product, on a Ford?

That's like saying you have a Nikon DSLR with a Canon CMOS sensor.

yeah, I call BS too -- Shelby GT500's have a 6-speed stick

When I asked a tech in our workshop about that, he asked back whether I want an offical or a personal opinion. THe offical one is in the owners manual, the personal was as I wrote before. It will not harm the engine in any way. If it start knocking change brands or even only the gas stations. Only on the bigger engines do you need to step up to a higher octane. An the dicounts.. sorry but all the sales are done thru dealers, never direct. But I get this question a lot :)

MY= model year (usually after the summer break, when the factories close so they can modify the machinery for the new year. this means the production between September 2006 and July/August 2007 is Model Year 2007. There are of course many exceptions to this logic)
MY 2006 means the car was build between Septmeber 2005 and August 2006. The model year also determines other factors such as options included/excluded, engine versions, face lifts,...
