Too many pictures in the Free Study. I was voting too fast and underscored some photos. Picking a top three was excruciating. Yanko will never know how close he came...

In MY eyes, there were a LOT of lovely and quite well executed shots that did not make even the upper 40 slots. They included these shots, in no particular order.
 I can't believe that this one scored as low as it did! :(
And, this one, even though narrow and small in size, was really quite well done in my point of view.
The voting was really "strange" in this challenge! Is it just me, or does the voting seem to be becoming a little "off the mark" lately?

Many thanks for noticing this. It didn't really matter to me how this did. I felt truly horrible when I took this shot as at that time my father-in-law lay dying in that hospital. In spite of that, the play of light, shadows, and reflections made me want to capture this shot, and the whole mood of it the way it's captured was beyond my wildest expectations.
I felt guilty as Hell taking the shot because everyone knew that at best, this was how my father-in-law was going to leave the hospital and he wasn't expected to live through 'til morning.
He not only lived, but rallied enough that they could do the neurosurgery, and the surgeon said that he came through the surgery better than anyone had in his entire 30 years as a surgeon.
So I now look at this shot as a prayer, a wish, a talisman, and am just still hoping that there is a chair for him wherever, soon!
So I don't mind at all that nobody was able to pick up on all that and I am glad that a few select people were moved.
Better that a shot really makes a profound impression upon a few than a whole bunch at a cursory glance.
My deepest thanks to you, m'lady, and I'm glad you liked it.

Little did I know that the shot had such a deep and very moving story as it did behind it. I just INTUITIVELY felt that there was MEANING behind it and I'm very touched to have been able to have learned the entire story.
My hat is off to you for this shot!
And, you're right......better a shot with a profound impression on even one than a whole bunch of "cursory glances"! *smile*
Prayers going out for your Father-In-Law and his continued recovery, dear sir. May he be blessed with nothing short of what he has already battled to get to.....a miracle recovery as well!

I was made aware of your photo from the previous post by JeffDay. I have a very slow internet connection and seldom get a chance to sort through the images in a challenge. When I want to know what the best photos were in a particular challenge I refer to this thread. I am never dissapointed. Many thanks to those who take the time to post here. |
