The irony. At some time in the early AM yesterday the power cables just down the road from my house were stolen. As a result we spend the whole day without electricity.
In the picture below the end of a cable can be seen hanging into the road, the utility pole where it should be going, in the background.

stolen power cable, now I have heard it all.
If electrifiying your cable to 10,000 volts doesnt protect it, I dont know what would.
at least the photo has some nice Bokeh going on :)

In Holland trains regularly come to a halt. The power lines above the rails (electric locomotives) and the lines that lead to the switches are stolen.... Sold as scrap metal at the local metal buyers....

Must be a risky way of making money. I wouldn't want to do it. |

Nobody stealing power lines here, but we had a bunch of aluminum street light poles stolen last year. The guys would pull up in a work truck, tape off the electrical wiring, take down the light pole, and sell it for scrap. It would take them a couple of hours to do this.
Another guy was stealing copper vases from the cemeteries, but that's OT.

I entered Power :) it's more of a creative shot then a super duper technical photo. |

I am not extremely happy with my shot. I've over-exposed the background and cannot reshoot. I don't have another idea for Power and am debating if I should enter. There aren't many images submitted so far. On one hand, I can do some creative cropping and post-processing but it will most likely score a 5.0 and not garner many comments. On the other hand, I won't know for sure unless I enter. Arg. |

That is a great picture. I love the background just as much as the foreground.
Here is what I would have submitted for the Power contest, had I not entered the Bokeh challenge.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

you shouldn't post pictures until after the challenge is over. |

Sorry, the only reason I posted it was because I'm not entering it. It says I am unable to enter both challenges at one time. That is why I posted it here, just to get some feedback. If I should remove it, please let me know.

The price of copper has tripled as of late. People are stealing all kinds of stuff made from copper. They even stole some copper vases from cemetaries over here.
One guy got electrocuted in a power station because he was trying to steal some copper. Way to be.
I'll stick to selling drugs to school kids.
