About a day and a half to go before this current crop of nominations moves on to the voting process...all OOBIE nominations posted between August 19-August 25 will go to the vote starting August 26.

As for the YAPPIE, post your nominations in this thread as usual, but now YAPPIE nominations will be collected over a month; voting and awards will occur once a month. This first "month" will be a little long, but that's ok. :) The next round of YAPPIE nominations began on August 19 and will continue through September, and go to the vote on October 1st.

OOBIEs will remain on a weekly schedule.

Post your candidates for an OOBIE or a YAPPIE here!

I want to nominate e301 for a YAPPIE. I was just browsing through his comments made (you know, to see if he was talking about me), and I was blown over by the quality and thoughtfulness of what he has to say. Let's pick quality over quantity this month, eh? That's what the Yappie is supposed to be about: what you say, not how much you say it.

I would second this...My favourite e301 received comment (from the why challenge) 'So close together, these footsteps; those, perhaps of a near-invalid, or a sneak. Perhaps that's it - perhaps it's just evidence, and we might read into the few elements we have left to judgement some story of burglary, or given the kitchen-floor feeling, something more sinister. If it wasn't for your title, that is.'

I'm sitting on my hands to keep from nominating someone for an OOBIE. Doesn't happen often. At 12:01, after rollover, I've got a nomination for OOBIE from one of the challenges.

(note -- this is so that it makes the thread easy to find tonight when I should be sleeping)

Its like playing golf, you get more for your money if you play out of the rough and in the trees rather than just sticking down the fairway.

My work does not inspire Ed to comment, nor recently even Don. Hence I don't third the nomination. Now if either of them are to suddenly come to their senses and realize (or in Ed's case, realise) that I'm really a lot better than it seems, well.... then I might third the nomination. Or I'll just have to get better. There's that.

And Nick, I agree about wandering off the course. And I do hit it a lot. Over and over and over again. I definitely get more strokes per dollar than the average player. I enjoy sand - always like to check out bunkers. Water, too. I feel compelled to support golf ball manufacturers by depositing at least one ball per round to the Water Gods. Makes me feel like I'm contributiing in some way.
