Can anyone help my friend undo this terrible mistake!
· I am trying to see if anyone has a program that they could recommend for recovering digital images (and video) from a camera. My oldest son went to his first concert last night with my husband in OKC...(ColdPlay) I got up this morning, looked at the pictures and accidentally erased ALL of the images!!!!
Do you have any suggestions? Is there any freeware on the net? Thanks in advance.

What ever you do don't take anymore pictures on that card.

What kind/brand of card is it? Lexar?

Like faidoi has said, do not write on the card. Any commercial file recovery program will be able to recover most if not all of the data, because it still is there. I can't recommend anything, since I haven't needed to do recovery of files. |

I've used Lexar's ImageRescue with great results. The software is included with their pro cards.
Side note- Lexar's home page cycles through several images when you refresh it. One of those shots was taken by DPC's own Scab-lab. ;-) |

Image Recall - works great and gets back all the images lost.
Image Recall
The free trial wont let you get them all back - just some. But if you purchase the program you can get everything. I agree with the others - do NOT use the card again until you haev recovered the lost images.

Kind of off topic, but does anyone use the lock button on their memory card? I know I've never used it.

Here is a program I have used to recover pictures from a card that wouldn't read anymore; it was a CF card that my son had used in his little Canon Point and Shoot - just came up as an error message. He was really upset as it had most of the pictures from his California vacation on it.
This program recovered all the photos on the card and the little movies he had had taken as well.

That will save you when using erase all but format will remove everything.

Now that I use only CF cards, I don't think they even have a lock function on them.

You can lock individual images through the camera menu. This prevents an erase all from erasing them. |

Zar worked for me, though make sure you don't take anything more overtop of the "missing" ones. |
