Still bouncing between a 6.7 and 6.8. Sure miss the 7 I had this morning. Oh well, I am still happy with the score and if this keeps up it will be my new personal best.

few days ago I was brawsing some photographs with shallow DOF, all of them were with usual subject, that is flowers bugs insects etc etc. I showed some of them to my wife.
She said why don't you take these type of beautiful pictures. I told her I could but I do not want to.

Anyway is is one such mundane but beautiful picture just to prove her that I could also take some pretty pictures if I wish to.

Just curious.. but are people mistaking shallow DOF with Bokeh or am I the one confused. Can someone pls explain the difference?
Rephrase: I know Bokeh is also shallow DOF but is it the background of your image that makes the difference?

See.. confused

See this thread for starters. Many are confused, some are certain, some are certainly confused ;-)

yes, there has been a increase in my scores recently.
may be due to the fact that I am no longer working on the software I was writing. So just have enough time to actually shoot something for dpc.

But the real credit i think goes to two people
1. benjikan for his sharping method. Finally i have a way to make my images look sharper.
For example, this bokeh entry, the portion of image that shall be sharp looks beautifully sharp and crisp.

2. DrAchoo
For his last ribboner. He put his original in before and after thread. I downloaded it and did the post processing trying to achieve final results as he got.
There I understand how to manipulate the colors to look beautiful.

This entry's subject is very ordinary, but there is a nice crispness in it (thanks benjikan) and the color very good (thanks DrAchoo)

I thank both of them for help.

Be careful with benjikan's method in basic challenges, as changing a layer to soft light is not legal.

I did not create any layers.
I never do.
Its the sharpning parameters that he used. Gave me idea of how to do it.

Would anyone like to share benjikans method for sharpening you talk about or send me a link.
Much appreciated.

Hi all,

Some great scores here; I'm onto a new possible PB (it's still early), so I thought I'd pop in and see how good things looked for everyone else. Happy to see it looks like some others are working on new PBs, as well! Keep it up, folks!

On a nice upswing. Hopefully I'll make my 50% or better goal. It's certainly better than my average.

Are we sure this isn't the BUTTERFLY challenge?!?! :-)
Seriously, great shots to vote on (I didn't enter this one) but sometimes I have to wonder if everyone "gets" what Bokeh really is.....

Blame that on DrAchoo. He wins with one and everyone takes the cue! :-P
