Steve, if you don't stop hijacking my thread I'm getting on the next bus to New York and I'm going to kick your A$$!! ;P ;P

Don-Well, ok. You can kick my A$$ but you'll have to buy the first round of beer. Deal?

Mak-No offense intended, if any was taken. I agree that the "PS filtered" images aren't what I'd call Photo Impressionism either to be fair but I don't think yours is, as well. I took an image a few moths back that I titled Le Jardin Monet which is more what I thought I would have seen in the Top 20/30 but was quite surprised by what turned up in general. I'm defining this for myself and offering an opinion based on what I believe the form to be. I think the basic ideas or feel of Impressionism should still apply even within the confines of photography.

thanks KarenNfld for the candy vote!

on the impressionism challenge... I really didn't like a lot of the PS filters! I like the entries where people had actually thought about what impressionism means and tried to take a photograph that encorperated those ideas!

Well, here's my Posthumous Ribbon of the Week...

It's incredible. They could almost be twins.

we're spiritual twins.

I have no ribbons for this challenge. I blame the challenge description:

"try to emulate it as closely as possible!"

this doomed the challenge from the start.

Well, I would have given a ribbon to one particular photo, except for three things: I knew who it was (sort of), not giving a ribbon is a form of protest, & I lost my Internet connection on Sunday night. Any one of those things would not have deterred me, but the three in combination were insurmountable. Here is the photo, winner of the Almost Blue Ribbon:

On behalf of aimeethetoo who is out of town til Wednesday with no computer access -

"This is all so sudden... I don't even have a speech prepared, but it's 100% cool! I can't wait to see my virtual, almost, sort of blue ribbon. I graciously accept this award and would like to thank the Academy and all the little people who helped make this happen."

"But in all seriousness, I really appreciate this and it is very cool! Thank you!"

Wow -- thanks for the posthumous ribbon -- and the esoteric comment! I didn't expect it to do well (and it didn't), but its nice to see that some people got it. Thanks.

Don, thank you ever so much!!!!!!! This shot tanked at 4.6 and was really a disappointing finish, but I am SO THRILLED to have it put up for a posthumous award! Thank you ever so much for "getting it"! *smile*

My daughter's back killed her for the next couple of days after that shot! *chuckle* I had her in a total backbend to capture the floating feeling, then rotated the shot to give the feel of swimming. The poor girl had color filtered lights behind her and nearly baked on top of it! It's special to me. Thank you ever so much! HUGS

I'll third Tim and Judy's "blue ribbon" pick. Here's another that I found refreshing:

And a nod to Cory's nifty "two-fer" silhouette:

posthumous thank you so much for both of your comments on my silhouette photo and for being my one only 10. That made my day.

Thanks for the honor. I seem to have liked what you liked as well in this challenge. These three got my highest score (along with a few that scored well in the challenge)
