There is at least 4 pictures in the Nostalgia challenge that are in 1 case, 2 of the same picture in a different color and in the other case, 2 from the same landscape which seems pretty extraordinary to me...

Some of us just happened to be lucky enough to be in the same place at the same time...

I like to call it traveling in pairs...

It is not so uncommon to have apparent 'duplicate' photos, which turn out to be completely unplanned and the folks are completely unknown to each other, I know of 2 instances where this is exactly the case!! Small world?!

In my case I was in exactly the same place with another photographer and when we started voting today, neither of us realized we had submitted almost identical photos.

We both had a great time composing our shots! :)

My friend and I have taken the same shot of a reflection of a building onto another in downtown Grand Rapids, and the same shot of arch rock on Mackinaw Island. Neither at the same time or having seen the others photo.

OK, I'll fess-up. My wife and I are both registered, though separately, and are both photography buffs, until now, only on film. We bought a very cheap used digital camera- mostly for e-Bay listings. So, for us, it is just for giggles and experience. Yes, we both shot a 'very' similar scenario, but with our own unique takes on the subject. We don't feel that this is in any way 'cheating' or outside of the goals of this website. Heck, we even used separate diskettes (in the camera) so as not to mix up who shot what, as we both shot quite a few.
One other subject-- yes, for me my shot was extremely nostagic. I'm a tad older than most folks here, so it was a case of 'once upon a time..' with me. Sure it was 'historic' but also personal to me as an individual.

I had one comment from someone who said they almost entered exactly the same composition of the same subject. yet I've never met them and they live several states away from me...

Not at all! Keep shooting and have fun.

If you check the Fruits & Vegetables challenge you should find two almost identical photos of Lychees, but taken a continent apart.
